I guess the solution to my E510 pop up flash creating a shadow when my 9-18mm lens is on, is to use the external flash. Too bad Olympus didn't think of this earlier. Any other thoughts?

I have two Olympus E520, and Both have problems with focus at large apertures and large focal distances (for example, shooting at f3.5 at an object 40 feet away). The images almost always were very soft, but if I shoot the same image using Live View and Contrast Detect AF, the image was SHARP. I have an E510 too, and in this cam with the same lens, the pictures always was sharp using Sensor AF (viewfinder). This happens with my lenses: 14-42, 14-54, 40-150 f3.5-4.5, 40-150 f4-5.6. If I close the aperure to f8 in the E520, the images improves, but with my E510 I can shoot the 14-54 wide open without any problem. I live in Venezuela, so sending my two E520 to USA for warranty or service (I buy them in Amazon by Internet), is a pain to me. If you can tell me how to adjust the AF mirror to compensate for front or back focus, I will apreciate so much. THANKS.

My new E-520 is almost always out of focus with 14-42mm and 40-150mm kit lenses when wide open. As the aperture is closed down the images get sharper and f/8 both give reasonably well focussed images. This is not a mild softening that would be excpected at large (wide) apertures -- the camera is clearly out of focus. Interstingly, in live view and using imager AF the pictures come out pretty well focussed and sharp at all apertures. Last week I sent the camera and one of the lenses to Olympus for inspection and repair and got it back today. Absolutely nothing has changed although the service report says "focus recalibrated". From the test images they have included with the report it appears they took a few sots of a test screen at f/8 and send it back to me. The report also says "firmware updated" although it makes no sense. I already had the latest firmware and the firmware version on the camera and lens are the same before and after service! I am going to send the camera back for service. Selva

Is there any way to turn off the "red eye reduction" in AUTO mode. All of these pre flashes are driving me crazy plus it seems to add time to taking a photo. Also, why is my "CUSTOM RESET SETTING" dimmed and unavailable as a choice. E-510

Have a problem with the focusing on my E510 (whichever lense I use). The diopter is set correctly. When focusing in AF through the viewfinder, the autfocus red light lights up and beeps when it says it is focused and even looks focused through the viewfinder, byut when reviewing the image it is well out of focus, as if the autofocus is focusing at least 3feet behind the subject. When put in manual focus using the viewfinder the final image is still out of focus, however when manual focusing using the LCD screen the review image seems fine. Whats happening? Anyone help?

My Olympus 510 will not take a photo with the attached flash. I am getting a red blinking flash symbol that (according to the manual) indicates that the flash is charging. I have not seen this before and have been getting the same blinking symbol for the past hour. It will still take photos without the flash. Anybody know how to fix this?
