OSD stuck on?
Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here...
I got a replacement remote for the TV but it doesn't work on the TV. How do I get it to function with the TV
When you say "Replacement" you do not say if you bought an "Original type" replacement or one of those Universal ones which may or may not have the correct codes for the TV in question. Not all Universals have ALL POSSIBLE CODES.
You have two options.
1. Have your TV checked to find out if it is capable of responding to a remote control. If it won't then no remote whatsoever will make it respond ! Remote Receiving circuits fail as well !
2. If it is OK in that regard, get an original brand replacement Remote Control.
You can buy a Remote Control tester or you can take it to a TV technician who can check for you if the Remote is working.
Be sure to double check that you are using NEW batteries and that they are put into the remote with battery polarity as marked. You would be amazed how many times I have found that the problem was caused by persons putting batteries in the wrong way round !
Because of the shape of the ends of them, with some rechargeable batteries it is not so immediately obvious at to which is + and which is - unless you look very closely at the battery markings.
On and off switch does not work
I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves
checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not. Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom. What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.
When pressing the power button, nothing happens
Check ur power souce?Tries unplug, replug it back like an hour later, the tv now, should reset itself back to the factory setting and work.If not,the power supply board is dead. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
My remote has bad reception
nnealrs1998, The remote control may need new batteries. The remote will not receive any information from the tv. The tv needs to receive commands from the remote control. Find where the Receiving "EYE" on the front of tv is and make sure it is dust free so it can see the Infared light signal being sent by the remote. Always point the remote directly at the front of the tv set. Hope this helps. 12fixlouie
