I turn the tv on.....I get a blue screen that says "no signal" and then 5 seconds later the TV turns off. Pressing the menu or input button does nothing.
I fear it could be the main board. What are your suggestions?

Just hold down the input button on the right side of the tv. This is the bottom one. So,
With the tv off,
press and hold the bottom button (input)
when the tv turns on, and you see the input menu
release and press the button to put the tv into a mode that works!

I was watching y Vizio L37 when the sound went out. I thought it might be because the home theater surround sound system had a problem but I can not even get sound through the TV when I disconnect the surround sound system.
I was watching tv, the picture blacked out and came back as white snow.
The picture came back, but no sound.

I had the same thing just happen and I used the following instructions from the Vizio Website for "humming sound" on tv and it worked. My sound is now working!!!!
1- Power off TV
2- Unplug TV from outlet
3- Press and hold in the power button on the TV for 30 seconds (while it is unplugged from the wall)
4- Release the power button
5- Plug in the TV into a different outlet
6- Power the TV back on.
Reset the TV settings.

Hi, I am swapping a smashed LCD with another one I bought locally as a non-working tv with a good LCD. I have removed all the screws but I can't seem to take the back panel off to get inside the TV! Any help or tips on how to remove the back off of a Vizio GV42L LCD TV?
Posted by Viperhawke on
remove all the screws and start at the bottom and push in the tabs, and work around the edges, being careful not to pry too hard, the cover has clips all around the tv. after the bottom is free and one of the corners the cover will kind of pop off if you use the palm of your hand and lightly tap as you apply sum upward pressure.

I have the rc-681m remote control and I have tried the codes for my tv from the manual but they do not work. Are there any other codes I can try or is it a lost cause?
Posted by caramello on
In my Vizio manual it says to try 1758 or 0178. I tried both and the 0178 worked for my rc-681m remote

how do you set our vizio to 1080p it is currently set at 480p
Posted by pioneercin... on
You really don't think you set the TV for this, if the TV supports 1080p and the device was 1080 capabilities then the TV will recognize this. If you using a cable box make sure your using the HDMI port on the cable box. I have seen in the past cable companies just using the component ports.

vizio television screen flickers like a strobe light

lcd sets use florescent tubes to light the display and, a ballast to power the tubes just like the lights in an office ceiling.
the tubes are called cold cathodes and, the ballasts are called inverter boards. replace your inverter circuit board it connects by wires to the cold cathodes so; isn't hard to find.

How difficult is it to replace backlight inverter boards on a 42 inch Vizio tv, any soldering required? I took my tv to a local repair guy and come to find out that both inverters on my tv have to be replaced he informed me this would cost around $475.. well I bought this tv for $700 two years ago and don't want to pay that much. I was wondering if this is something that I could do myself? I don't know much about tv repair but form all the videos and forums it looks fairly easy.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

Replacing LCD inverter board is very easy.Does not involved in any soldering. It a long board in shape.Just take ur tv aparts, use a Philip screw driver take out 6 Philip screws each board and connections.Do the reverse to install the LCD inverter boards.Tries Websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy refurbish LCD inverter boards.
