Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a red haze
HI:
This problem is due to a faulty digital board or as some call it main board that needs replacing, you may be able to find the board on Ebay for very little or try
www.shopjimmy.com..
Vizio gallivea some tv channels are in spanish and
GO into the customer menu with the remote and look at the audio settings---I would bet you will find SAP has been selected; this will give you some channels in spanish( SAP means secondary audio program) Monday night football and some other programs offer this for Spanish speaking people. Change the setting to Stereo or Mts away from SAp
I do this here for free so if this helps you give me a vote here---if you have questions or need help contact me by replying to this post.
SD TECH (SAN DIEGO)
My GV42L tv was working
It is the main power supply module that has failed, most repairs require a brand new board to fix the problem and they are pricey. I suggest a tv technician examine the set with an estimate in mind.
The tv will not turn
The power unit needs to be checked and/or changed. Please refer to a professional service center because you could die trying this yourself (the risk of electrical shock is very big).
My vizio has a wierd
i dont have a solution 4 ur problem, but this might be a probable reason 4 ur problem
this will happen in old lcd televisions and this is one of the disadvantages in having an lcd tv.
if a constant patch of colored icons like the channel logos (in your case it should be your dth operator logo) that part of the screen in the LCD screen will get decoloured and this will start to showup in plain screens as a patch (eg when you connect playstations etc).
else try to switch off your dth while connecting other devices to your lcd
White flickering line across top of screen
Set the screen format using your TV's menu. Do not set the format of the screen using your provider's receiver. I had this prob with a few channels with a dish provider when I set the format with the remote from the dish provider. I picked up the TV's remote, went into the menu, set the format, problem fixed.
Vizio VO420E " TURN ON, tv is showing no picture
It can be the main board, power supply, backlight inverter, etc.
You need to do some troubleshooting to narrow down the probelm, so please read my guide first.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

you need to check first the power supply board whether the output supply 12-24vdc for the inverter board is stable and not flactuating..you can measure the output voltage with a multitester..you get a voltage output of 12-24 with the inverter board is connected or loaded to the system.be carefull of the high voltage at the inverter board..once the output is stable replace the inverter board or you can measure the output of the inverter be very carefull..the output range upto 500vac.be carefull..if the high voltage is stable replace the lamps...tnx and good luck..
