How to make Windows7 recognize Olympus FE-170... At this moment I don't have a card reader. I've tried so many times by dl the proper software, but still it won't recognise it. Isn't there another solution?
Posted by chuyung... on
The easiest solution is a cheap $5 card reader available online or from a local walmart. If you don't want to do that, you can check the olympus website's download section to see if they've issued new software or driver's for your model and Window's 7.

Camera only used a couple of times and shows all menu icons on screen but otherwise all black. It flashes like it is taking a picture but shows a black screen upon playback as well. Is worth fixing? I bought the camera out of state so I can't take it back.

you have to disamled your camera and reconnect the LCD it happens when the cable of the LCD is half out

To my knowledge, an Olympus FE-170 has no audio recording capability and records the video on 15FPS.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

You may want to call Olympus Customer Service as this is probably a repair issue with the camera. They will be able to explain their repair policies and procedures to you. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

I have the Olympus stylus 760 and the lens will not zoom out and there is a blue screen and code D: 8233 8234 when i turn it on
It also makes a noise like the lens is trying to retract but it can't
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

I just called technical support and they told me the camera has an internal problem. You have to call them if your camera is still under warranty and send it to a repair center.

When I connect the USB lead the usual screen comes up on the PC as drive H but then starts to go off & on, camera light flashing red. A message then comes up saying that drive H cannot be found. My other camera connects OK. I suspect the camera is faulty, do you agree?
Posted by kfb185 on
Possibly not, try another camera lead in a different USB port.
If its the same format the camera card and try again, if you still get the same result, the camera is faulty.
Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Olympus Camera stuck on "one moment" when uploading

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
