Probably the plastic guard was poorly designed and will be a constant source of trouble.

Try not leaving it plugged in for too long and clean it inside out then try again if that doesn't work than someone probably broke your vaccum.

Yes. Under the front handle yoke. The “no spray” is caused by a build up of soap from the wire. You might have to clean out the spray tubes on the bottom. Try running warm water with no soap after cleaning.

Need to replace the pump which isnt worth doing because the heating element gets very gooked up and needs to be replaced also. Try a dry carpet cleaning product from Oreck or Sebo.

What worked for me is - put some water into the dirty water tank before you run it. My experience was, if I ran the machine with an empty dirty water tank, it stayed empty and didn't pull in any dirty water. If I put a little water in it beforehand, it helped seal the suction and get the thing started. Hope this helps!
