Login to the router and make certain the wireless network is turned ON and at full power.
Last resort is to try a factory reset.
I have a D link DI 524 802.11g/2.4GHz wireless router which I've
Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.
You do not need the disc. Using you browser, login into the router using the default IP 192.168.0.1 unless this has been changed and you should be able to configure your router.
Hi, DI-524
The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset
If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.
How to update firmware for DI-524
Usually you can login on your browser to you router and go to the management section to check for firmware updates and select that button and it will download and install the firmware. On some models, you have to go to the D-link web site and look for firmware updates for your router. Always check what you current firmware you have installed and check the version of you router modem (A, B, C etc). Then you can manually download the firmware (usually in a ZIP file), open the zip file, and then using your browser connected to the router look for Update Firmware. You will have to go to where (folder) you saved the downloaded update and select that file. It is recommended that you update using a LAN connection and not a wireless connection.
Hi I can't access the
couple of ways. You can reset your router, then it will default to factory settings and then it will delete your password and open itself up to not needing a password to get on your network. However, anyone can connect to your network, so you will have to enter into your networks menus and reset a password to prevent this, then set that password on all of the computers on the network now. You generally access your set up menu by typing your server IP address into your browser address bar, which is ususlly http://192.168.1.1
This is not all conclusive as some routers have other access methods, but the majority use the above. It will also require a User and a password and the default is usually admin and password or password1 for the default. If however, you have set a password then you definitely have to reset.
Reset is usually a small button , some recessed in a small hole that requires a tooth pick or un-bent paper clip to push into the hole and hold for 15 seconds with the power on the router. Sometimes turning the power off of the router for 2-5 minutes will cause it to reset.
You can also force the laptop(or any client of that server) that you are using and is connected to the internet to give you the english translation of the password. Click on your WiFi icon down in the right corner, A window opens, right click on the name of your network that is connected, click on properties, click on "show charcters." The network key(your password) will be revealed
I m unable to access
There is a small-pinhole on the back of the router next to where you plug in the power adapter. In that pin-hole is the reset button. Stick something in there and hold for 30sec, this will reset your router back to it's default factory settings.
Now you need to setup your router again. On a computer that is attached to the router by an ethernet (LAN) cord, open up internet explorer and type in the default IP Address for your router into the address bar. In your case, the default IP Address is
192.168.0.1
If that does not bring up a login window, then you should go to Start > Run
and in the Run window, type CMD and hit enter (in Vista and Win 7 just select the Start Orb and type CMD into the search bar). In the command prompt window that opened up, type IPCONFIG /ALL and hit enter. You're looking for Default Gateway (that's your router). Write down that IP address and then type it into your address bar of Internet Explorer or your web browser.
Now that the login window for your router is open, you will login with the default login information which is "admin" for the UserName (there is no password) now hit the ok button.
Click on the Wireless button on the left-hand side of the screen. Type in your SSID (this is the name of the network, you can name it whatever you wish).
Leave Channel set to 6.
If you wish to use security (which you should) select your preferred method, for now we'll just use WEP.
Pick Enabled for it.
Select your level of encryption (64bit or 128bit)
select HEX or ASCII and create a key. If you create it in Key 1 Field, select that field, now hit apply at the bottom of your screen.
Now your router is reset and set back up. Now you need to conenct to your SSID on your wireless computers and input your WEP key and you will connectt.
Hope this helps!

You need to bridge mode your modem. And when set it to bridge mode already. Connect the dlink router. Access the gui of the router. Enter there your username and password. Powercycle modem, router and computer. Check connections. I f this didnt work, set again your modem to default, connect your router. Configure your router with username and password. Powercycle again. Check if it is working.
I must power off then power on my DI-524 router
it seems that the location of the router is not correct, it is either getting into a magnetic field or is not getting proper air to cool itself, because of these reasons there is static charge getting developed on the router, which requires a restart every day.
Please make sure that the router is kept at a location where there is nothing within 12" radius of the router as that would obstruct free flow of air that is required to cool the device.
Please also make sure that the router is away from any kind of magnetic field.
