Bring a MASK and a SOFT / OLD paint brush and round toothpick to assist. Pay SPECIAL attention to the FAN area AND the DUST UNDER it! SEE the PHOTO below AND NOTE the DUST UNDER the fan! Hello, My Gateway laptop will not charge. When

Have you tried removing the battery and putting it back in?

Does the laptop boot when the power cord is plugged in? With and without battery?

What does the battery charge icon in the task bar (down by the clock) show?

These are the first steps I use when troubleshooting a charge problem.

If none of these yield a solution than it's time to look deeper. And it *may* be a problem with the motherboard or more specifically with the charger port or board. The next question would be, is your laptop still under warranty? Laptops are not fun to take apart.

The BIOS battery may have been drained out because the only time it charges is when the laptop is powered on. Check the BIOS battery - you might need to replace it.

Gateway m675 fan runs almost

I would suggest either taking the laptop in for service to have them remove the case an remove any dust build-up on the heat sinks.
If you're good with a screw-driver, you might try to do the cleaning yourself.
You can't really clean the air vents well without taking apart the laptop.

This is usually indicative of either the fact there is no hard drive installed in the system, or the hard drive is blank and there is no operating system. The third possibility is that there is a problem between the motherboard and the hard drive, not allowing the interface between the two to work. Check the hard drive and its connections first. You can always remove the hard drive and using an adapter attach it to another computer so it will be recognized as an external drive and access the drive for viewing the files if there are any.

Its possible that your slot could be dirty, you can try re seating the stick and then cleaning it with a brush. If that don't work you can just run it with one stick, last resort is to replace the motherboard.

I turned on my m-675

From the information, that you used control/alt/delete to re-boot, I am assuming that you sensed that the computer finished the booting process. Meaning the tell tale sound (music) of windows booting was there, the hard disk whirling (blinking LED) for a certain period and stopping etc. If that is the case, (meaning you think your computer is capable of booting) probably you have a display failure. If you have a VGA cable connect that cable to the VGA connector (0n your laptop) and connect the other end to Desktop screen (monitor) or a TV screen with a VGA input. Probably you will see a display right away. If not press the Fn key and the key which changes the screen from laptop to external screen. This key will be marked either as CRT/LCD or with a picture( a square with two lines on either side of the square). If you get a display there, you may need to get a technician to change the screen.

Power led remains lit at all times with battery or

ok you have laptop. Look for a key called "Fn" it should be around the ctrl or alt key on your keyboard. Try pressing that. After trying to turn it on and it wont. press the Fn key. The last time you were able to use the laptop how did you shut it down? Did you tell it by going threw the menu when logged on. Or just pressed the button? Or did you tell it to shut down then you closed the screen/lid before it actually shut down? Laptops will go into stand by after you tell it to shut down if you dont wait til it shuts down, before shutting the lid. ALso depending on the laptop company you have Trying to figure out which one it is. They have program installed with your system. And depending on how it's set up, will greatly effect how or even IF your laptop will shut down right.

DEAD GATEWAY M675

its most probably a RAM gone bad. try taking out one of the ram modules and check to see which RAM slot or RAM module is acting up (mine was the ram slot 1 which suddenly stopped working). Or if your using pc3200 try replacing it with pc2700

also since u have opened up anyway try to do some cleaning

1. open up the fans and clean it- lots of dust and gunk in there
2. take off the cpu heatsink, clean it and put on a fresh coating of thermal paste
