Remove Administrator Password from Bios ver A06
When a laptop BIOS is locked with
password, a checksum of that password is stored to a sector of the
FlashROM - this is a chip on the mainboard of the device which also
contains the BIOS and other settings.
For most brands, this checksum is displayed after entering an invalid password for the third time. (For Dell laptops only the service tag # is needed.)
using this number a randomly generated password can be calculated. Which
is the reason this number is displayed and is the way the manufactures
tech support calculates a password. We use the same method to calculate a
password for your laptop www.bios-unlock.com
I have a problem with
I would recommend connecting an external keyboard to the laptop and seeing if you can access the BIOS pages. It seems the keys are preventing you from doing so. The keyboard could be damaged.
The CMOS battery is on the motherboard of the laptop. If you can access it w/o damaging anything, you could reset the CMOS settings (clearing CMOS) and the password will no longer be valid. Hope this helps.
I have Dell Latitude CPx laptop, when it is powered
The BIOS password has been set. You have to find the chip that holds the password and short it out. Not the easiest of tasks and you have to make sure you short the right chip. Dell knows that it happens and they are not quick to help.
How do i change my dell latitude cpx to english?
The computer BIOS is in english.
The operating system you have installed might not be a english one.
You need to reformat your computer using a english
version of Windows Xp and install this to your laptop.
Now you have your computer in english!!!
This will work!
This is my solution! Please vote!!!

[Repost] Can't start windows
Ok i had the same problem today:
firstly check to see if the HDD is on its own IDE channel (ie. not sharing with another IDE device such as a CD-Rom or DVD drive)
if yes disconnect the Optical drive or other device on the IDE channel and boot and if it still isn't working change the IDE interface used if this still doesnt fix the problem.
Boot with the Windows Install CD and see if you can do a system repair / chkdsk , if the HDD is still not detected you possibly have a problem with your motherboard / HDD
to determine if its the hard drive if you have another HDD spare which you can try boot off give that ago and if it succeeds your other hard drive is failing time to get a new hard disk.
If you still have no success time to look for a new computer or get it changed under warranty if you still have it ?
Can't start windows
The issue you are having is that your computer is not seeing the harddrive or the boot drive. This could be a simple fix from the bios by telling the computer what device it needs to boot from which in this case is your hard drive.
You say that it did work and it was working how long ago was that? It also could be more serious in which you hard drive has crashed or exceeded its MTBF (which means "mean time before failure").
Wont power on
Try powering the system on with only the AC adapter, see if you get any power indications.
If you do not, then the system is not getting AC power.
See if the power adapter has an LED on it and if it is lit with the computer disconnected. If the LED doesn't come on at all, replace the adapter. IF the LED is on with the computer unplugged from it, then goes out when you plug it in, then try a new AC adapter.
If a new AC adapter doesn't resolve the problem, then you may want to look into buying a new computer as replacing the motherboard on this system may cost more than replacing the computer with a new system.
Toshiba P35-S611 will not come on.
Simplify -
1.swap between both sticks of ram.
2. remove hard drive (should be right on the bottom near the RAM cover.
3. Remove CD drive (usually just one screw on the bottom where the end of the drive would be)
If those dont help, then its likely a CPU or motherboard problem which would require a lot of disassembly of the system to check.
Boot up problem
Sounds like a loose connector, or a cracked board in the area of the power supply. You'll have to go inside the covers to find out.

How to fix my dell E4310 from freezing while im using it?
There are a number of reasons that the unit could be freezing up.
- Corrupted file(s)
- Low available disk space
- Viruses and/or malware
- Too many add-ons/toolbars/etc.
- Heat build-up
Number one is the hardest to find. So start with #2. The computer needs free hard drive space to operate. If the disk is nearly full or is very fragmented, this can slow the machine to a crawl. Check for available space and if there is plenty (20GB or more), then check for fragmentation under administrative tools. If the defragmentation tool recommends optimization, allow it to perform it and see if that helps.
For viruses and possible malware, run your virus scanner. It is always a good idea to get a second opinion on such things. Malwarebytes is a free malware scanner that works very well to find adware and some things that many antivirus programs fail to detect.
Many user feel that they have to have every bell and whistle. I've seen some browsers with 7-10 different toolbar add-ons. These almost always come with some adware and always slow down the browser. Uninstall all but the most essential toolbars for the best performance. Heat is a slayer of machines. Laptops are very susceptible to heat issue since they are often placed on beds, sofas, carpets, and yes, even laptop. Many of these units draw cooling air from the bottom and exhaust it to the side. Even those that draw air from the rear and exhaust to the side will often intake large amounts of dust, grit, and lint. These can partially or completely clog the heat sink unit and cause heat buildup of the processor. This will cause the processor to work slower and can actually cause it to thermally lockup, resulting in the need to reboot. Many units can be accessed to clean with a removable cover on the bottom; others may need to be serviced by a technician to clean.
My latitude will not power up. I have a good power

Can you hard wire power to laptop?
NO
if you do, a noob will blow it to kingdom come. as in letting the smoke out.
the power-pack does 3 things
it has the correct DC voltage and wattages
and #2 prevents fire when the PC fails and things short inside.
and prevents huge damaging surges landing inside the PC
buy used power pack off fleabay and win.
i bet I'd mow one lawn and and buy one
