Nearly everytime I wash a load of clothes, I find that at least one, somtimes more, items have tears/holes in them. It has ruined a couple of swimsuits, camisoles, my son's baseball uniform(s), underwear, and so much more... What's going on????

I just had the repairman come and fix the washer. It was not spinning and getting the water out. My housekeeper watched him take the front panel off and get out two pairs of panties and $1.57 in change. That part is fixed now but the fabric softener dispenser is filled with water. They don't know how to fix that. Does anybody know?
I had this same problem. I found a repair manual online and found out how to get into Service Test Mode. There is a test (t12) for the dispenser motor/mechanise. Running this test basically just runs water through each of the dispenser compartments (prewash, wash, bleach, fabric softner). All ran fine - no error codes. I continued to run the test on the fabric softner dispenser repeatedly and after 5-10 cycles it started draining properly. I think a tube (or valve or opening) was just clogged with the built up softner. I also put some vinegar in the compartment a time or two just to clean out any residue. Be careful with the Service Test Mode - read directions carefully - the manual warns that if you don't get out of it corretly that it can lock up you washer.

My first frontloader worked like a charm for the first four months - now it keeps pausing itself at times during the cycle. It is usually in the WASH cycle when it does it and it sits there and hums like it is doing something. I have went through all the troubleshooting tips and nothing works. Mine is a GE WBVH6240HWW.
you may have something in your drain pump.
1) Remove the three screws in the bottom remove bottom panel.
2) Remove drain pump cover (have towels or pan to catch water that comes out)
3) Remove any debris from pump, check that the impeller is not damaged and can be moved freely.
4) reinstall drain pump cover and bottom panel
Let me know if it helps

I have a GE WBVH6240 Front Load washer that won't tumble (i.e. wash) or spin with any kind of load in it but it works just fine when it is empty. The filter has been cleaned out...nothing was in it. I've run the test list and came up with the following error codes: 4B, 42, 61, and 70. I performed the test list functional checks and all worked fine with an empty washer but when anything, even a single towel, is put in the washer it will start to tumble and then act as if the load is too heavy for the motor to move it, yet the drum turns freely by hand. All the codes were cleared out and only the 42 repeated after letting the washer attempt to make it through an entire was cycle. The troubleshooting chart in the washer states this is a motor problem and to replace the motor. I put in a new motor and nothing changed, same exact scenerio.
How about the belt, tensioner, or transmission?

My washer is just over a year old. I washed a load today with no problem. I started the 2nd load and went to the store. Came home, the door locked light was on. I was able to open the door, clothes are completly dry. Laundry soap is leaking out of the front of the door. I unplugged the washer, took the front panel off and cleaned the lint filter. I plugged it back in and now it will not turn on at all...
I queryed another site; justanswer.com with technician Larry, who provided the solution. Replace the door latch assenbly part # WH10X1006 $146.99 from GE. A local parts house had the identical under a Whirlpool # WP8182634 for 59.46. Install the new assemble and all is well.

I have a brand new GE front load washer (WSSH300) and it's been working fine for a week. Now it won't start. It simply beeps at me and the light goes back to flashing.
I think it has something to do with the door lock, but i have no idea how to fix it.
Try this, press the pause/cancel button twice. Open the door, ensure there is nothing blocking the door and close the door fully. Open the detergent drawer fully and re-close the drawer. Select Quick wash and press start.
If this does not correct the problem, call for service under warranty.

Purchased washer 6240 and the dryer almost two years ago without pedestals. Now we have purchased the pedestals. The installation instructions for the w & d do not address installing them. What do we need to do to install now? Do we treat both machines as they were going to be moved?
Yes!!!! Do not lay the machines on their backs with out the shipping bolts/hardware installed..Major damage will occur!!!!!

GE WBVH6240 Front load washer. The drain pump won't shut off and door is locked. I've cleaned the filter/trap. The drain had evacuated all of the water...but the pump keeps running. I've unplugger the washer overnight in an attempt to reset and run error codes....but after powering up, the pump continues to run and door remains locked. Could this be the pressure switch (water level switch), control board, or ???
you would need to go into the fault codes and read them. the tech sheet should be under the lid or in the kick panel

The drum inside my ge wbvh6240fww washer is loose. I can move it around with my hands. During spin cycles it sounds like a tornado, and the room fills with smoke from where the drum rubs. The belt is fine, the shipping bolts are removed. Are there rollers or bearings between the plastic tub that surrounds the metal drum, that could be worn? or is the metal(inside) drum held steady by bearings in the rear of the unit?
There is one bearing in rear tub/bearing is part of rear tub...To repair that unit you will need a rear tub/inner basket with spindal and possible a front tub if it damaged..If i was you I would price the parts b/c you may not want to repair it as it can be costly .....Good luck

I have a GE WCVH6800JMS front load washer that will not spin. When I place it in the Drain/Spin Cycle it rotates (slowly) a few times and then stops. Every spin cycle on the machine does not work.
Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Based on the symptom you've described ( wont spin proper on any cycle ) the first thing I would do is to remove the lower panel and check the pump filter for blockages/debris. Believe or not, that is enough to prevent those GE washers ( as is the case with any washer ) from spinning and is a very common problem. **UNPLUG THE WASHER BEFORE SERVICING...Safety first** If you've never done it before you need only remove the screws at the very bottom and the access panel will pull away exposing the pump with a filter which screws out. Once to that point, unscrew it slowly as to let any water out gradually ( a wet-dry shop vacuum is handy here to **** up the water...or plenty of towels ) and then check inside the pump thoroughly as well for and debris which can cause slow draining thus preventing a good quality hi-speed spin/water extraction. If any of this is not clear I could send you a service manual via a pdf attachment through email, but obviously you'd have to post an email address first. Let me know how you make out and we'll go from there. Good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)
