Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
Hi, my name is Mathew

You need to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pictures first using a card reader if necessary.

Sorry to say but about your only option is taking to a certified repair shop (Best Buy, for example) or replacement. Quite honestly from what I've experienced replacement is usually the most economic option.

Sony DSC-W150 power on keeps going to set date/time
The date and time settings are displayed after turning on the camera.
Solution
It is normal for the camera to lose time and date settings if the internal battery is left uncharged for an extended period of time; some cameras will default to the time-setting screen when turned on if this happens. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.
- Turn off the camera.
- Do one of the following:
- Insert a fully-charged battery pack into the camera.
- If the camera is supplied with an AC power adapter, plug the adapter into a working electrical outlet and then connect it to the camera.
- Allow the internal battery that retains the time and date information to charge for at least 90 minutes.
- After enough time has elapsed to sufficiently charge the internal battery, turn on the camera.
- Set the time and date.
- Turn off the camera for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the camera again.
- Check to see if the date and time have been saved.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site at
http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.

How to charge battery
You need to use the supplied battery charger to charge the battery. The battery goes into the charger, and then you plug the charger into a wall outlet.
You can download a copy of the manual from the manufacturer's web site at http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DSCW100
I need to get 300dpi with a sony 8.1 megapixel
Yes, but only up to a certain size. DPI means dots per inch. A dot is a pixel. Find the number of pixels in the image dimensions on the computer. Divide each number by 300. That will tell you the maximum size you can print the picture for 300 DPI. For example, if the picture is 2500 X 3250 pixels, that would be 8.3 X 10.83 inches.
My camera stopped reading my memory disk
do you get any kind of error message? try to clean the terminals of the memory stick using a clean soft eraser. reinsert ms inside cam. see if you can get to format the ms using camera. if still not working try to see if a ms reader or other camera can recognized your ms. if not then it might actually be a recording media issue and not the camera. try using a different compatible memory stick to further isolate issue. see:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-info.pl?&info_id=12&mdl for checking compatibility. if another ms works then no issue with camera. if it doesnt it might be a camera issue. make sure ms is inserted correctly and properly. initialize or reset cam back to factory settings. if still this doesn't work unit may need service. hope this helps. thanks:)
