Never heard of 7 flasjhes.

Five flashes = No Print Head Installed. Install or re-install.

Eight flashes = Waste ink absorber* almost full. The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink consumed during Print
Head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that this absorber is nearly full.
Press the R R ESUME/CANCEL button to clear the error so printing can continue for a while.
A longer term RESET IS possible BUT without changing the blotters, you're exposed to ink eventually running out of the printer without warning but... if you still want to continue, here are the reset instructions. Good luck!
1) With the printer powered off, hold down the resume button and press the power button.
2) While holding down the power button, release the resume button and press the resume button twice in succession. Now release the power button. The indicator will blink in green and remain lit in green.
Now press the resume button 4 times and then the power button. You've just reset the waste ink counter. Good luck. Just hope it doesn't come back to bite you!

You can't. On Canon machines they make you have a full set of good cartridges.

You can print out the network setting for the MP495, including the IP address, if the printer is not giving any errors. With the printer in standby, press the Maintenance button (with a stylized wrench and screwdriver, just above the Black button) repeatedly until an upside-down U appears. Then press the Black or Color button, as if printing a copy on the all-in-one. The IP address will be in the third column of the12th row below the heading. The first column in the row holds "IP Address". See https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART110996&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1568565298004&fac=CMS-CATEGORY-CANON-PRODUCTS.PRINTERS.INKJET_MULTIFUNCTION.MP_SERIES.4499B026 for images of the buttons.

I hope this helps. You may also be able to get the IP address from your router's list of devices (after logging in) or your OS's Printer information page. (In Windows, open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Printers and Devices > Right click on the MP495 icon and look at Properties and Printer Properties.

If your asking how can you default so all printing is done in mono, unless you want it to be colour, there will be a setting in the printer driver that does this

Hello,

E000 is a high temperature error. You can try to clear it in service mode:
Folow this steps
1.Press ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS, #
2.Go to #7 Printer and press OK
3.Go to #4 Printer Reset and press OK
4.Yes = ( * )
5.Power cycle unit.
If this does not help, you have to start looking at printer Fixing Assy or Thermistors. Make sure that you do not have a piece of paper wrapped around Upper Fixing Roller or and other foreign substance in that area.
