Canon PowerShot A430 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Poor quality images outdoors
try setting your camera's auto balance into Automatic or Outdoor. So the camera could adjust the light or diable flash.
Canon Powershot A430 horizontal lines problem
have opened my camera. (it was useless anyway, right?) GUess what I found: in the lens-assembly there is a ribbon cable that controls the two solenoids, one of the shutter, one of the diafragm (or what it's called). This one is broken, the electric circuits are discontinued and so there is no control. It seems to be a design error since it broke exactly where the ribbon bends at 180 degrees almost with no place for a loop most of the focussing time. Can anyone find out where to find a NEW replacement ribbon cable?
Memory card error
What type and size memory card? The A430 works with SD and MMC cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.
Can't find the driver
You don't need a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Canon ZoomBrowser or Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).
Horizontal line pictures
am getting experience the same problem - horizontal white lines on blurry still pictures - after 2 years. But the video is working properly.
Black Screen
Try hooking up your camera to your computer VIA USB. Power on the camera and see if your computer see's the Camera. If you do not have your cable just try and take a picture. Then pull the memory card out and see if you can see the picture you just took. If the camera still works you could try the link below. More then likely if the camera works you broke the screen.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
How can i show the
The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
