You're using the correct cable to begin with, and if you were using a crossover cable by accident, the auto-sensing in the switch should have corrected it anyway. Therefore, I don't think your problem is a cable issue... unless one of your cables is physically bad, which you can test by simple replacement with a known good cable.
The next thing I would do is configure my PC to an appropriate static IP address, just to test. That will finesse the DHCP issue and allow you to find out whether or not you are able to access the network as a whole. If so, your issue is limited to DHCP; if not, you have a general loss of connectivity.
One thing I will point out is that the quick-start guide for this switch promises "Free Technical Support—24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week, Toll-Free US Calls" at 800-326-7114, so if the simple steps above don't immediately identify your problem, you may want to give them a ring.

there is no wan port on a swith i think. you need a router that can use DHCP.

First see weather you have given a correct and diffrent ip address for both and the computer name should not be same and the check with the dns it shound be correct if you dont have any ask your service provider


if this all does not work check with the network cable it should be crimped striaght when connecting to a computer from switch and it should be crimped cross when you connect a modem to switch

and if you are not using a broadband via ethernet then you have to use a proxy
