NEC MT850, MT1050, MT1055, MT1056 Replacement Projector Lamp - MT50LP Projector Lamp Questions & Answers
The status light is on our NEC MT850 and the bulb looks fine. What other problems could it be?
1,Check the fans ,whether each fan is running, when you turn on the projector
2,if the fans run, then ,check the lamp or lamp ballast
turn on the projector ,at the same time ,if you can hear a continuous beep beep sound (the ballast igniting the lamp)
means the lamp may be fault, and other parts is working well

I turn my mt850 on & the picture is blue
You most likely have a defective blue LCD panel which is a common problem for a projectors this old.
This is an exspensive repair if parts are still available, probably not worth fixin.
I have a nec 1050.
It sounds like a polariser lens has failed, if so it may be cheaper to purchase a new projector than have it repaired.Hope I was of assistance to you
How do I reset the
On some Projectors that I used to service, Holding the power button whilst plugging into power did a lamp timer reset. ( Of course check the lamp is fully seated and the lamp door is closed
Just purchased a new replacement
Hi,
There is a lens that overlays the CRT or LCD screen right before the lenticular lens. This can grow old and wear thin. As to let too much color through causing this effect. You need to replace the lens.
Let us know if you have something more to know else accept the suggestion.

I have a NEC mt1055
The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
- Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
- Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
- This will reset the status button, removing the red light
- Power up the projector and select Menu
- Select Projector Options
- Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
- Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
- Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
- Projector is now back to life
This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.
My NEC MT850 projects with a pink picture you can
A pink image normally means a loss of green signal. If you are using Computer input you should try replacing your input cable to see if this is the problem. If it is pink with video also then the projector most likley has a internal problem.
MT1055 power light and stand by light come on but thats all
Have you checked for a fusable link? Typicaly high end units and some low end units have a fuse that takes the blow before the system does...Check for a black cap that unscrews from the unit (or any other variaton. Also the fuse could be internal....If this is the case you may have to disassemble the unit and find the fuse located on the main board of the unit. However if the unit is under warranty it is best to send it back to the manufacturer due to the possibility of voiding the units warranty. I hope this helps you out.
NEC MT1050 Lamp Error
Does the status light stay on red? If it does then the lamp timer has exspired and will not let the projector turn back on until it is reset, at which time you should replace the lamp. To reset the timer you need the remote control, with the unit plugged in in standby mode hold down the power off button for 30 to 45 seconds until the status light goes off.
NEC MT850
As there were no indicator lights lit I focused on the AC. The projectors work as they should in another location and as such I am fairly certain the problem is associated with the AC power in the particular room. I haven't isolated the exact condition as yet.
Thanks
