Restarting

What i would recommend you to do is to uninstall the device and reinstall it back...to uninstall it...assuming that you are running windows xp...click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties..you should have your system properties open then click under hardware then device manager...look for the sansa device..it usually located under portable device..if its not showing there i would recommend you to look for under disk drives and see if its there..right click on the device and click on uninstall...after you unintall it unplug your device from the computer....Then follow this link below to download the porting kit...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en .Then check the mode of yuor device to make sure it sunder MTP not msc...To check the mode go under menu, settings and choose usb mode...After you check the mode open up your windows media player click on tools, options and click under privacy...clear the history and caches...after you finish you can plug the device on the back of the computer not the front then windows should recongnize it and it should work properly..if that doesnt solve the problems upgrade your windows media player to 11 even though you have done that already..and try to reconnect your device..make sure you have it on the back of your computer...

Driver for sansa e270 for win xp os

Install Windows Media Player 11. The Sansa drivers, and MTP system, are part of WiMP10 / 11. Windows XP "out of the box" has WiMP9, which may be your problem.

The Sansa can function as a flash drive in MSC mode, but your files transferred in MTP will not be available on the PC side.

The Sansa does not require specific drivers from SanDisk, as it's integrated into WiMP.

Go under menu, setting and change the device to MTP or playforsure..

Let me know if that works

Deleting music

When using Windows Media Player 11 to delete, you have to look carefully at the folders on the left hand side of the window in the "Library" Tab - the first set of folders are the songs stored on your computer only. If your mp3 player is plugged into the computer and the computer recognizes that it is plugged in, you will see an icon of your Mp3 player in the list of items in the library tab. You must double-click that icon of your mp3 player and bring up your music files that way. Delete the files from there, and it will usually (not always) ask you "this will permanently delete files from your device" blah blah blah. You're there.

RE: sansa e260

Hmm how did you format the player. It could be that the player was formatted in NTFS. You may need to reformat the player. Try to reformat the player but first. Look on the back of the player on the right corner. If it says Model : e260 V2 follow the steps below.

1. Turn off the device. Slide the Lock switch it will be showing orange.
2. Press and hold the Left button while connecting the player to the computer.
3. Go to My Computer then a drive of the player should appear.
4. Right click the drive of the player then choose Format. Make sure it is showing FAT32.
5, Click Start to continue,

If it says Model : e260

1. Turn off the device. Slide the Lock switch it will be showing orange.
2. Press and Hold the record button while pressing and holding the record button press the power button. It should say Welcome to Recovery mode.
3. Connect the player to the computer. The player would show up on your My Computer as a drive named 16MB Format.
4. Create a file named sansa.fmt make sure that the file extension is fmt not txt. To check right click on the file and choose properties.

Sansa e280 - missing songs from mp3 playlists but playable through the computer

Hi make sure that the songs that are on the player are in MP3 or WMA file format. If they are in MP3 or WMA format, reformat the player and reload the songs back to the mp3 player. I and some of my friends experience the same problem but thanks from the sandisk technical support people i found out that it was just the songs that i am transferring are in MP4. Hope this helps out.
