Fujifilm F470: camera opens, shutter opens but no image!!!
I had the same problem with this particular camera. Here is the necessary steps to fix your problem.
1. Take out the battery because you dont want to short anything when you're inside it.
2. Free yourself of any static.
3. Remove six screws on the outside of the camera. Note that two of the screws in the botton are not phillips head. If you have a very small flat-head screw driver that will work.
4. Pull the camera apart very carefully. Unplug the little wiring harness by pulling up the little black clip that holds it in its seat.
5. Carefully remove the LCD screen. You dont have to remove any screws here. Just carefully pull it out. There is a peice of double sided tape that holds it in in place so you will fell some resistance.
6. Remove the two screws behind the screen that holds the lcd holder in place. Theres also one or two in the left side of that.
7. Plug back in the lens wiring harness. This is where your problem was. It came unplug from probably being dropped.
8. Repeat the steps 6,5,4,3,2, and 1 to put it back together.
Hope that this fixes your problem. It fixed my camera.

You lens are tilted? If so, they are out of track. Maybe you bumped or dropped the camera. Try straighten them up with your fingers, very gently.

Lens stuck
Yes it is fixable. if there is a friction in the movement of the lense cover blades this happens. If it is due to fine sand or dust try using a soft brush with a rubber pump fitted at the back so that it cen blow the sand off the camera. The problem is not that big for going for a new camera.
Screen error!
Sorry to tell you but I think you have a bad cable on your CCD. You have to take it to be repaired at a shop.
Can't access pictures or turn on camera
Hello, if the batteries where not fully charged when you where copying pictures to PC, the camera may have corrupted the pictures on the xD card. That is why the camera is showig a grey picture and turning off, it can't work without a valid picture card. A vey good way to restore the pictures on the card is to buy a card reader (they are unexpensive) that can handle xD cards and use a picture restore software.
For the restoration proccess, read the following page:
http://techblissonline.com/photo-recovery-deleted-pictures-corrupted-images/
Maybe you don't need to buy a card reader if your camera is recognized as a disk drive by the computer but I strongly recommend a card reader for future picture downloading to PC.
After recovering your pictures, you have to format your card in order to use it again in camera.
Good luck!

F470 problem
Hey peewack65,
According to the manufacturer this message means that the camera is not connected to the computer properly, which could be due to a faulty USB cord. I would also make sure your drivers have not been accidentally deleted, and you could try updating your drivers. Another option is to upload your images from your memory card to the computer using a card reader that plugs into a USB port. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Allan

I HAVE A QUESTION
Read the Manual to ensure you have it set up correctly.
Not all exposures need Flash. The Flash on these camera is very low power therefore will not cover a room for example.
Never the less if the camera captured the image- a reasonable image editor will enhance it to some degree.
Zoom error
Hey MBB722,
What is most likely going on is there is something stuck in the lens obstructing its movement (i.e. sand). I don't know what you have tried and what you have not tried you can try placing the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointing upwards, and then press and hold the shutter button and while doing this turn the camera on. If this doesn't work you can try removing the batteries and waiting a minute or two and then reinserting. If these suggestions don't work you should have it looked at by an authorized service technician such as bringing the camera to a Geek Squad® precinct at a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out for service. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Allan

I don't think [and the museum will certainly say]
This has anything to do with the X-ray/storage whilst in the museums hands.
It could be a processing error or a memory card error.
Try formatting the card in the camera and taking a new batch of images
Try another card.
This will estasblish card or camera.
If card - buy another card
If camera -checxk on the price of a repair but I suspect it will mean when you see the price
Buy another camera

Broken Zoom on Fuji Finepix F470
Try turning the power on and gently pulling the lens outward as it powers up. This may force the gears to re-align themselves. Use "fingertip" pressure only. Don't force it excessively. Also try turning on, and then applying slight pressure to the front of the lens while you power it off. You can also try rotating the lens barrel segments while it powers up or shuts off. Sometimes either can get the lens back on track.
