Dvd will not play or
Do you have a CD/DVD Lens Cleaner Disk ?
What the Problem may be, is that there maybe dust or a bit of dirt on your lens inside the DVD player.
So with a CD/DVD lens Cleaner it will clean the lens so that you can run DVD with no Problems

DVD won!t EJect at all
The DVD might be stuck in the disc tray for whatever reason. To get it out, you could remove all the screws on the back and bottom. Slide out the cover to retrieve the DVD. Plug it in to see if it still works. If it still appears to be working, put it back together and hope that future DVDs won't get stuck.

My model: DVR 4000;
Hi there -
You have to set the Alt Video Out setting to COMPONENT while the composite cable is still attached. Leave the yellow plug for the composite connection connected to both the TV and DVD player, change the Alt Video Out setting to COMPONENT, then connect the 5 jacks for the component connection to both the DVD player and the TV.
Once you have done this, you need to switch the input on the TV to COMPONENT. You probably select AV1 on the TV for watching the DVD player using the composite connection, but you have to select a different input on the TV when using the component cables. The correct input on the TV will probably be called "component" or "component 1". I suspect this is the part that you may not have done.
You seem to have a good understanding of how to connect it all, so I've skipped a lot of detail here, but I'm willing to draw a specific connection diagram for this player and your TV if required. You will need to let me know the model number of your TV for this.
Hope this helps. If you've tried doing it as I suggested above and still can't get it to work, please let me know the model number of the TV and I will provide more comprehensive step-by-step instructions. Once you've got the component connection working for playback, I can also assist you with settting it up so you can record to VCR again.
Please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question. Further messages from me will all appear below this message.

BElectric

I have a DV2150 model
Hi,
Have you tried to unplug and plug in the Device after few
minutes, say 30 minutes? If not, try it.
It is quite a common
problem with this model, you can try a clean on the lens, you can use a
DVD cleaning kit which you can buy from Radio Shack or similar or you
can clean manually.
To clean manually unplug from wall and leave
two minutes.Remove cover identify the lens as a small round glass lens
in the DVD tray assembly.Clean with the glass lens with a cotton bud or
similar, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or do the clean dry,
any other cleaning product could damage the unit.Remove any foreign
objects in the unit.Reassemble and test
If no luck then
you will need a new laser assembly I'm afraid
Now, regarding Caps. Yes, it could be another Problem. When you Open the
Player, you would see Caps like :-
If you see, Cylindrical Type Components, all those are Caps. There might
be chance that any one of these could be Leaked / Bulged / Swelled.
Make sure that there is no Cold Solder Joint and there is no other
Broken Component on the Board.
If you find anything Swelled /
Leaked / Bulged, you could De Solder and Re Solder the New Caps. The
caps could be easily available in the Market. You could buy it Online or
you could go to Radio Shack, Fry's.Make sure to Buy a Similar one. I
have seen , if you buy a Low Quality Cap, it could again Swelled or
Blown.Usually Bad Caps have Ammonia Kind of Odor.
The Cost of
Caps would be less than $20.
I hope that the
above information would be useful for you to Resolve the Problem.
Let
me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks
for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

We had a digital box
The cable from outside should go to the cable box.The output of the cable box should go to the input of the VCR/DVD recorder. The output of the VCR/DVD recorder should go into the TV cable input jack(coaxial cable).Turn on the VCR/DVD and make VCR the source. On your TV remote, click on the input selector button. Some TV's have only 1 input but most have 2.When you see a channel appear, you have the VCR input, which is likely a different channel than the TV was on when you started.Change the channel on the VCR/DVD to the channel you want to record.Select the one you want to record to,TV or DVD.When your program starts which you wish to record, press record(or a few seconds/minutes before).Try a test run of this at least once before recording to make sure you have everything right, perhaps 10 seconds of anything is all you need. When you see your show recording, you can push the input select button on the TV remote to go back to watching whatever you want while you are recording. It will not affect anything as long as it is hooked up as described above, perhaps even do a brief test run on this to see for yourself. If you watch TV while something is recording and the screen is slightly fuzzy, there should be a TV/VCR button on your VCR remote.Press it and it should go away and not affect the recording. You can also do this during your record while watching a separate show test. The connection options and everything else I described should be correct and work because of the components you said there are and that is how they work together. If you have any problems with hookup or questions or options other than described, feel free to comment to this post and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.Good luck! Greg
