When a tape is loaded
Tape mechanism problems are quite complicated but they can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Hi...
There are two ways to download your picture to the computer,
- If your camera have SD card you need to but a card reader then plug your SD card to the card reader and plug your card reader to your computer. direct to the motherboard. then start download your picture
- If you want to buy a cable make sure that the cable you buy is fix to the port size of your camera, i think the size of that bale is 2.5
Good luck !!!

E03
Day after thanksgiving, (year 2008) about to film my girls putting the tree and same E03 as all of you with the camera chewing my tapes. All of my DV cassettes are brand JVC so I know that was not the issue. I read and read and finally decided to grab a flashlight and study how the mechanism move. Then I noticed something suspicious about the right "two little spikes" attached to a white plastic piece that, when close, it moves to the right side of the camera head (the round stainless wheel inside). The white plastic piece mentioned above, part of it came off the guiding tiny little rail. 1. So I opened the tape compartment with an EJECT command, 2. Close it back up with an inmediate unplug of the camera without battery so it will stay in a position where I can get my fingers and paper clip inside. 3. With the paper clip, stretch the guiding rail in such a way that it widens so the bottom of the white plastic thingy can get back in the guiding rail. 4. Put a cassette inside and FFWD, PLAY or RWD and problem fixed.
Email me if you have any questions. Happy filming!

Try first unplugging computer power cord for five minutes, sometimes this solves the problem.
Camera wont run on batteries
Try cleaning the battery contacts inside camera battery socket with isopropyl alcohol, if that does not work, then there is a problem on battery wiring inside camera, the camera must be taken apart at a repair shop to fix this.
Firewire problem
It should work. Laptops have a 4pin connection. There is a video on how to specifically connect digital cameras to laptops using 4pin to 4 pin IEEE 1394 cable. So it should work... The video is on www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics category. It doesn't cover the software because all softwares would be different, but you can see that it uses 4 pin to 4 pin. You can double check on this site though.
E06
