Vivitar ViviCam 5340s Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
When i connect my vivitar
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

It may be hard to find this battery in your local stores when you search with the brand you mentioned. However same battery is also used in Olympus and Minolta cameras as well. The following batteries may also work in your camera. You can try buying them in Photo/Video stores or Online.

Pictures are misty if we take them in the sunlight
You should know that if take pictures against the sunlight it will be misty. About the batteries, if those are NiCad batteries, it has a problem called memory effect. If you recharge the batteries before it's completely empty, the next time the battery shows it needs recharge when it reaches that level. So recharge the batteries only when they are fully empty. You will have to replace the battery now.

When camera is turned on it suddenly powers down
Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries
or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera
which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the
camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen
into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have
a problem that requires professional repair.
No power
Make sure that the battery is propperly inserted. The battery port isnt keyed to only accept the battery the right way around so its easy to inadvertently insert the battery so that there is no terminal contact. The result would be what you decribe. Simply turn the battery over and insert as indicated by the picture inside the port.

Internal memory only permits 5 photos
Reformat the card, preferably on your computer.
Almost always works. If not, the card could be too large, as they will not work with over 2 Gb.
If under 2 Gb, and refortmatting doesn't work, test the card in another camera; test another care in this camera.

Vivitar 5340s 'Card Error Message'
The only solution I have found is that, this camera you have can only hold up to 512 MB of memory. So if you bought something higher then, you got to return the card. Same problem with me, luckily I still have the reciept.
Help please
see if keeping the power button pressed continuously without
releasing keeps the camera on
