I am a servicer of 30 years, and am experiencing a strange problem with this unit. The initial... (More) I am a servicer of 30 years, and am experiencing a strange problem with this unit. The initial problem was that the ceramic fuse blew while using the minute timer. I asked if the door was being opened and closed when it happened, but she didn't think so, but wasn't sure. I found the ceramic fuse blown, along with the 20 house circuit breaker tripped. I inspected the unit, checked all of the 3 door switches for open/close operation, and also the timing of the switch activations. All checked good, the monitor switch was the first to open before either of the others closed, and no sign of any problem. I ran a test and the unit worked fine with a new fuse, but after repeated open and closings of the door, sure enough the fuse and house breaker blew again. After running elimination test, I found that if I pulled the wire off of the monitor switched that I could still get the fuse to blow (eliminating the monitor switch circuit as being the culprit). Only after removing the red wire off of the ''stop switch'' could I fail to get the fuse to blow. This red lead comes from the control board diode, and I determined that there must be a problem with the diode feeding back voltage to ground (looking at the schematic). I replaced the control board, and tested the unit. It worked fine in operational testing, but once again I was able to get the fuse to blow, along with the house breaker. I tried adjusting the door switch mount to make for a slightly looser door closure, giving better extension of the door hooks into the switch pockets, but it didn't help. Even though all switches check good, I am about to the point of replacing all of them, but the monitor switch isn't the problem, and only removing the red wire from the ''stop switch'' prevent the fuse from blowing. Any ideas that I'm not thinking about? The polarity is right in the house circuit, and I can't figure out exactly what is going on. I know it involves the switches, as the fuse is blowing without even turning the unit on, and onl blows while working the door. Help if you can!
