Hello there and welcome to fixya This is a fairly common issue with these These cooktops have a internal memory built into them and if they get locked they need to be reset SO what you will need to do is to unplug the power to the cooktop and leave it sit for 1 hr and do not touch ok then after the hour is up tunr on the power to the cooktop you may hear a audiable beep sound or a click sound this is normal now press the cancel button and you should be all right from here but if not please post me back a comment and tell me what is going on and i will give you further troubleshooting steps ok ?Best regards Mike

Here is a disassembly video. A loose knob problem can be tackled by pulling off the knob, encircling the cracked plastic with a zip tie (after putting Loctite glue in the cracks), pulling the zip tight. Don't lose the sleeve when you pull off the knob. Cleaning or replacing the grease filters in downdraft vent hood

Can you get to the switch terminals and try jumping them out with a piece of insulated wire? That would tell you if the switch is defective (my suspicion). Please be careful not to touch any live terminals - only the wire insulation you use for the jumper.

What is the model number?

You didn't mention if it only pops when you first turn them on or that the popping is continuous. If it when you first turn them on, then I would suspect late ignition. Too much gas build-up before ignition takes place. The spark gap may need to be adjusted or the spark module replaced. If it happens continuously there may be a short in one of the switches or wiring harness.

Sometimes after a power failure the p c board needs re setting. Turn off the power for a few minutes that allows it time to re set. Turn it back on then individually turn on each element for a couple of minutes.
