The problem is likely to be screen resolution too high in windows 8. Boot it to safe mode, (which should be at a lower resolution) and reduce it down to the lowest setting. Reboot to normal mode and then adjust your resolution to a higher setting that works. Alternatively get (beg, borrow or ... otherwise obtain) a monitor with a higher resolution and make adjustments required.
If it does turn out to be a driver problem, you should also be able to fix this from safe mode.
