Danby Dehumidifier Model # DDR586R Serial # 6763858666 (only 28 months old) - Does not collect water or starts the compressor (was fine just a week ago). Fan runs fine, display is fine, air filter is clean. Is there some switch/relay that control the compressor that may be bad? Can the compressor control be by-passed (or manually closed) to verify the compressor working condition? Thanks.

My dehumidifier has a hose that drains into a floor drain. After some time, it stops draining thru the tube and instead, the water container in the unit fills up with water. What causes this to happen, and how can I fix it. I've cleaned out the tube, as their is a film or mildew(?) that may prevent the water from going through the tube. The tube runs about 10 ft. to the drain. Anything else I can do to make this drain through the tube to the floor drain?

I have a Danby Premiere 30 pint dehumidifier. It has been running well for one and a half summers in our unfinished basement. I have it hooked up to a hose that drains directly into our basement drain. The water drains out of this hose, however there is also a slow, steady drip coming from the bottom right-hand corner (same side as hose hook-up nossle) of the machine. I have checked the hose (plastic surgical tubing), and it seems to be securely attatched without any leaking. Does it have to do with condensation? The weather has been fluctuating quite a lot lately (20 degrees Celcius one day and 3 degrees the next). Any ideas?

I have the above named, and want to hook up the hose so that it can drain automatically. I don't have directions to this unit, and wonder if you could help with this. I see the hose connection at the bottom, but wonder if I must remove the cover to attach same. thanks in advance

We have the Arcticaire ADR4066 and have installed a cut piece of garden hose to use the direct drain feature. We got the unit yesterday (Friday, Sep. 22/06) and have noticed that instead of draining through the hose, the tank still fills up. The hose is connected to the nipple, as per the directions, but the water is still coming out of the hole on the opposite side.
Are we missing something? Have we overlooked something simple?
Thanks!
I am having the same problem. Unit is brand new. I determined that the knock out in the direct drain opening was removed and that the hose was not clogged (somehow blocked although new). The unit still fills the bucket first and then shuts down. The instructions (which did not come with the unit and I downloaded from mfgs. website) gives no instruction other than to attach the hose. I assume you have to leave the bucket in place and the unit knows to drain via the hose if the knockout is removed and the hose is attached. Confusing.......in that this should not be a problem with a new unit, never previously operated.
