I have the same problem. I pulled the down motor out myself and completely dissassembled the A/C unit.... built very well, shitty flaw of the down motor, seems to have failed us all. It is a 5 wire motor, ground, hi power, lower power, and i believe 2 switch wires. Motor reads "Mota001-2004b- 115v~60hz 60w 4p 1.4A Class:B ROT ---> Infostar technology LTD. Weird if you look at the amperage x voltage it does not equal the specified 60 watts draw. The bearing in the unit seems to have failed which ultimately led it to overheat i believe, burnt the coils of the motor and render it useless. The unit spins when you spin, though with some turbulance and bearing noise, it but as soon as you apply power, it comes to a dead stop and resists turning even with all my might. I bench tested it with every combination of wiring i could which seemed logical based off the wiring diagram. Also the squirrel cage part of the fan is detatchable from the motor. My plastic squirrel cage seems to have a crack in it on both sides where the metal washer that connects it to the motor goes, so it too is bad but i guess would techincally still work if the motor did. I called amcor 3 times, emailed them 4 times, left voice messages and no responce for 3 weeks. I called again and finally got someone. They said they could not help me cuz i didnt have a receipt. I bought it online and cant remember which site. I said i dont need their warranty just SELL me the replacement part. I will send you the old broken part along with money for the new one, just sell me a new one... nothing. She refused and said im pretty much out of luck. Bye bye $700, really worth the 8 months you worked for... i was thinking about unhooking the squirrel cage part of the fan from the motor as i already have and bolting the motor back in to the plastic housing which seals it to the heat exchanger, just to create a seal but without the stupid squirrel wheel. Then just wire an inline fan with equivellant power draw, and CFM rating and just splice it to the stock wire connecters and pluggin it back in. My only problem is this is a 5 wire system and im confused on what to do with all the extra wires as the new fan will probably be just a ground and a positive. So 1: it will only run high speed or no speed. And no option for low speed, and 2. what about the switch wires, are they even neccessary? I tried googling this motor but to no avail. Anyone want to conspire on how we can all do the same jimmy rig and get our super expensive and nice, yet unreliable air conditioners back in action? my emails is Ws6transam2002m6@hotmail.com feel free to email me if you found any good ideas for wiring a different fan to this 5 wire system or if you found a place to get a similiar item that will bolt right up. Considereing maybe rebuilding this too. Bearing would be nothing to get, just measure inside and outside diamters in mm's and look online for similiars but how do i replace the coils? Kinda cant, I dont think its a pretty big part of the motor, considered pretty much the whole motor at that point, cuz the armature doesnt really go bad, also this is also a brushless motor, so it aint the brushes that went bad.
