Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

They are Big Black ICs will have part number on them.

The issue is with the failed convergence (STK) ICs which needs to be replaced.It’s not a difficult job if you want to do this yourself, you should require some basic knowledge about soldering-resoldering components. To start with you’ll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs (STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check the resistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, you can buy and repair it yourself. The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

Blink codes are never good news and usually involve both power boards and the 2 sustain boards. Board swap jokeying practices dont fix it either as they need to be tuned and syncronised with special tools as well as assuring voltages are correct at each test point. I consider this a non DIY for those without tools knowledge or circuit diagrams. Those that have not heeded the warnings have ended up ruining their replacements as well as incurring extra costs that exceeded the cost of a professional.

10 times Diagnosis: Vertical deflection stopped. Possible causes: +- 15V is not supplied. (D board), IC8003 is faulty. (A board) Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby state after horizontal raster, Vertical deflection pulse is stopped, Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped. Audio error. Possible causes: +- 19V line is shorted. (A, B boards), IC708 is faulty. (A board), PS701 or PS702 is opened. (A board). Symptoms of the problem: No sound no power on TV side of transformer

U have not change the projection bulb for this tv at lest 2 years,and u used the tv alots?The first thing u require to do is to change the projection bulb.See what happen,than go from there.

If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast.Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp..Have a blessed one!

You are saying the focus is off, but if the colors are not overlapping, your convergence is off. This makes things look out of focus. If it is the convergence you should see halos of color around things, especially text. You also said that perfect focus does not correct it. That leads me to believe you need new convergence ICs. Common convergence problem,both convergence amps need to be replaced and the 2 B+ fuses checked also all the fusible resistors around the amps, it should use stk392-040?

Replace Both of your STK ICs ,they will have part number on them and they are big black ICs
example# STK392-110,STK392-020 ?

They do a very good job at putting together a package for the consumer to be able to fix there television. You will recieve convergence IC's, resistors, thermal paste, and step by step photo instrucions.

U can't.Ur convergence is dead.Try website Tv repair World.com to buy a Convergence board to replaced.Well solved the convergence problems.The Samsung/Akai use the same convergence board.

Your best bet is to pay as trying to do convergence alignment if you have never done it is not that easy...
