My DVD291 was modified by PatsConnection in Canada for better 2 ch. audio quality....I just upgraded TV to HDMI compatible (from DVI).
My problem is that even after resetting to factory specs - via code from Denon...no video.. I run player to stereo (2ch) integrated amp, so I get audio signal, just no video.
Question: is it possible that during mod - the HDMI input was disconnected and not re-connected?
Is this something I could remedy fairly easily?
Many thanks for any guidance!
-Steve

My player has worked fine for 2 years. I went to play a dvd and it's locked up. Display shows '2910', and no buttons work including drawer open or standby. Remote doesn't work either. Tried factory reset in tech manual. Power was plugged into Denon receiver and receiver was plugged into excellent surge protector...so almost positive no electrical surge went to player. Is there another master reset for unit. Thanks.

My DVD player a region code free modified Denon DVD 2930ci(not listed in the product line below) is having problems playing my discs, mostly audio CDs which is what I play most often maybe 90 percent of the time, while watching the occasional movie maybe a couple of times a month or so, generally without issue.
I do not believe that the CDs themselves are the problem as they are generally scratch free and in good condition. Some discs are virtually brand new, having been played maybe twice, but they too have problems when I try to play them. When I first put a CD in the DVD player's disc tray and close it, the player says "Loading" seems to "scan" the disc I surmise then displays the discs summary info of tracks and total duration. When I press "play" the player usually works fine playing the disc from the beginning and I can enjoy my music, but after finising track 1 and 2 let's say and then skipping to track nine the music won't play. The disc just seems to spin and spin as it seems like the player is struggling to read the disc. There are some audible clicking and less noticably screeching sounds while this happens which is why I say the player is trying to and "struggling" to read the disc. But then, if I skip ahead to the next track, 10, which also doesn't play doing the same thing, and then go back to the previous, track 9 sometimes, often it will play to my surprise and delight. I have had this and similar disc reading problems for maybe the past year, but now it seems to be happening more frequently and regularly.
I suspect the lens, or laser assembly(the part that reads the disc) but this is just a guess and I don't really know all that much about electronics or DVD players, in spite of having read a few books and hope that somebody can help me with this problem because it has become quite frustrating leading me to consider purchasing another player. The only problem is that I have had this player for only about two years now, and while I bought it off of eBay because I got a fantastic deal on a high-end player, I was expecting it to last for a while giving me great joy with it use as a long term investment, given it's high quality performance and build. I would also like to say that upon receiving my player from the seller off of eBay, yes it was used, but appeared to be in very good condition and it did not give me any problems, at least initially.

My DENON2910 from 2 days, is freezing the image constantly and repetitiveli at 2 to 3 seconds in Video COmponent. In HDMI the image is istil freezing, but adicionaly is presenting some kind off interference, lije an horizontal color bar displayed at 2 to 3 seconds. I still did a firmware update, but the problems continues. How can I solve this?
When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the
optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will...
