Hi, well, the symptoms you describe, simply mean it's NOT compatible with the Hyundai BT, i have found over the years that with BT, they either work, or they don't, not all BT will work with all other BT unfortunately, differing standards, cause the problems. If it doesn't automatically connect, then usually it never will, sorry.
The only way around it, most often is to replace it with one that will work with that particular BT device. Usually there are preferred list of BT devices, it is best to obtain one from that list, as they are guaranteed to work.
One thing to try is a Factory RESET, (Be careful and research this before doing it though) and then try connecting and pairing, sometimes this works, as the unit never actually deletes the old existing data (& a factory reset will) about a BT device it has already been paired with, if this then still doesn't work, then you will have to obtain one that will.
Also make sure there are no Firmware upgrades for both units.
