Dell 2001 fp back panel removal ?
First remove the four screws behind the stand mount on the monitor. Then turn monitor vertically so thet the bottom is up. Next look for slots betweem the portions of the srame on the bottom. Use a slotted screw driver to pry open the bottom. Becareful to not damage the plastic. As bottom is opening pry around the entire frame it will come loose. Make sure you place the monitor on a table covered with a towel in the final process to un clip the case.

Vertical lines on left half of screen
The problem is the driver tabs that go from the panel controller board to the panel itself.
This is normally a fatal failure since having it repaired is extremely expensive.

Monitor has no power or wont turn on
Gumpster,
Yes, there are replaceable parts inside, however, the question is can it be fixed economically. If this was supposed to be working I would return it as fast as you can. If not then it could be your logic board ($80 approx) or your external power supply ($25 approx). If you decide to pursue this take proper precautions to protect yourself and the monitor components. Let us know how things go and please don?t forget to rate this post.

You rmonitor is likely fine, and the culprit is most probably your PC, specifically the graphics card. We won't rule out the monitor, however, until learning the specifics regarding your equipment - PC, graphics card, motherboard, and so forth, please.
If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

DVI went bust
Have you contacted Dell? I am sure the warranty is gone but they might try to help. You can take it to a T.V. shop and have them check it. Sometimes a repair cost more than a monitor though. Acer has the best monitor that I have seen. I put some to a test at Staples and Acer was the only one that could stay working at a high resolution. Strange because Acer is usually ****. Good luck. Sorry I could not give you a better answer. I hope that I put you on the right track though. Does that monitor have a VGA connection on it that you can use. Some have both. Maybe you can get an adapter for your video card. Most cards come with one.
Vibrating monitor
ROFL, best description I have ever seen =)
Do you mean there are like wavy lines flowing on the screen?
If so, then chances are your power supply needs attention by a qualified technician.
It should not be expensive as it is only a few capacitors that need to be replaced to stabilse the voltages.
Dell 2001FP
Chances are the driver tabs inside from the panel to the internal controller board have failed. This is the actual controller board that the internal video card connects to (hidden under the silver cover on the back of the physical panel).
It is not a cheap repair, and it is normally best to source another panel, or just replace the monitor all together.
A follow-up on my Dell vertical lines issues
I understand that it seems odd that sometimes they disappear.
I have a vertical line on one of my laptops right now that it takes about 3 seconds before it appears on the screen but once it's there. It's there.
I think it has to "warm up" before it comes back.
I used to do Technical support for a company that produced computers with 5inch wide screens, and everytime something with a line was mentioned, "Fix display cable" was the reason.
Because everytime you pushed the screen up to see the keyboard the line disappeared (because the display cable moved) But I digress.
All I'm certain of is that if you change the display cable this will be fixed.
Dell 2001FP always in sleep mode.
I have a dell ultrasharp and at first it would not come on at all. Open it up and found loose connection on plug connectors 3 pin. Soldered and would come up but blinks in and out sometimes take longer than other times. Big Capacitor when open up Power supply was leaky. Check for bad caps
Problem with Digital Input
Hi,
You may need to switch monitor selection in your Display Properties. You need to activate twin/dual view in your Display Properties. Right click on any
clear area of your desktop, click on Properties, click on Settings tab,
select monitor 1 or 2 depending which is your primary and which is your secondary (analog/digital). Check (or uncheck-whichever works) on box "Extend....".
Apply, OK.
There is an application that is supposed to facilitate twin or dual view
configuration,
UltraMon. This may be better/safer way to address your
concern.
Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you have other concerns.
Good luck and kind regards.
