Power issue
Sounds like the Power Supply is gone
or on the way out. This is caused by the Power Switch Transistor being
too loosely clamped to heatsink allowing it to become too hot, and go into what we call 'thermal runaway' (2-3sec) and it draws too much current and the PS powers off to protect itself... or one of
the capacitors responsible for filtering the recitified AC to pure DC (what electronics use) or frequency of oscillation of the switching supply (26-48Khz - ultrasonic) is
drying up and changing value. A good tech can fix either. Most likely
the big filter cap is bad, and AC (60hz) is getting thru and causing the transistor to switch erratically. This is a easy fix and the TRANSISTOR and CAP are $3.00 parts
Or
the inverter in the LCD is biting the bullet. If you turn down the
brightness, does it stay on or click on and off? THAT would be the
inverter. Inverters take 5, 12 or 24v from the powersupply and run the
itty-tiny pencil-sized florescent lamps that light up your screen.
Lamps are $8.00 and inverters can be $50-80, but ebay has them for alot
less
Hopes that helps

Help pls
A possibility is that the VIDEO selections you have made are too
acute for the screen and Windows cannot continue (nor can it tell you
it can't) so press F8 key while booting, select 'Last known Good' and
see if that flies. Last known good is the settings for your PC that
worked last time you booted. If that does the same thing, then reboot
using F8 again and select 'Safe mode'
This will force WIN to use
only known good settings, and then you can fix the problem by START,
RUN and typing 'compmgmt.msc', choosing 'Devices', clicking the little
+ by Display Adapters, highlighting yours and hitting the DEL key. This
will remove it and its settings from the Registry (but not the HD) and
force Windows to reinstall and reconfigure it
Hope that all helps!
Cheers
