Hitachi DZ-MV580A DVD Camcorder Questions & Answers
Japan label turns to american label
That sounds like a regional coding thing, check the recorders regional code to see if it is lapan or usa. if it is usa, try switching it to japan, but REMEMBER...you are only allowed so many changes to region code, and after that, you'll be stuck with whatever region your set on.

Computer with xp won't recognize
Unable to copy and paste as you suggested in the first part of your
solution. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver as you suggested
in the second part of your solution per your instructions with the same
result. Continues to report that drive G is inaccesible. Looked at the
driver that was installed for the camera and it has several but the
first one is a cdrom driver which appears to be the problem it is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys

Hi,
All is required to Finalize MiniDVD in camcorder through Camcorder Menu when recording is finished.
Once MiniDVD got finalized then it can be accessed either in camcorder or put ir in DVD ROM of PC to copy/ paste files in PC.
Finalized DVD/ MiniDVD can also be playback in any DVD Player.
Please remember, Un-finalized disc in camcorder has raw data files and only camcorder can recognize it that is being recording.
So Finalize disc in camcorder and put it in dvd rom of pc to copy and save files in pc.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

Vista
Take the DVD out of the plastic case used to hold it in the Cam. Put the DVD in a DVD drive (mine is on the laptop). Find the file .VRO and download it to a folder. Change the file .VRO to .MPG. Should open with Windows Media Player. This is quick and dirty and I'm sure there's a better solution out there, but it's working for me. Regards

Hitachi-DZ-MV550A
eject the disk and if it it empty just open the cd
door. with the lense to the left and the door on the top. look into the device. You will see to the left side a metal platform that houses the dvd laser. take and push the platform all the way to the left. The platform fails to retract once you do this you should be able to use a disk like normal provide you have a dvd-r disk.

Can't upload movie onto computer...HELP!
Hello JKelley,
When you connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable, wait for few seconds for the computer to recognize the new member.. Now check under "My computer" ... You will have a new drive letter that represents your camera.
Double click on the camera drive letter and open it up as you normally do with other drives .. You can copy the images or videos from the drive to your computers desktop.
Let me know if that was helpful and Do not forget to rate the solution as "Fixya" :)
All the best for your Presentation.
Thanks and Regards,
Srinivas.

Disc Eject won't work after improperly inserting disc and since removing it.
I have an DZ-MV780 with the same problem. I found that the cover plate around the flash hot shoe only has a single screw. If you remove it and pull up the cover you gain access to the gear and lock mechanism. Hit eject and if necessary press on the white gears you see in front of the zoom switch. It should then cause the door mechanism to unlock and open.

Has this happened with more than one disc? Sounds like you may have gotten a bad disc, happens sometimes, especially with cheaper brands. I try to stick to Verbatim for my blanks. I would finalize the disc before trying to repair anything, that way the filesystem is complete. Sometimes a camera will not be able to read the disc but the more stable laser and environement of a computer will. If it starts to happen a lot even with high quality media then there might be something wrong with the camera, clean the lense carefully and see if there may be a new firmware on the net for it. Hope this helps.
