Sony Handycam DCR-TRV11 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Questions & Answers
Does not play any tapes
This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Can you upload the video from the Sony Handycam
Yes, there are ways of doing this. Your camcorder has the Sony iLink (Firewire) cable connection and a standard composite video and audio connection. Most laptops today have USB ports and not much else. So the process is not straightforward but it can be done with some extra effort. If you know somebody with a desktop computer that has a Firewire card, you could go directly from camcorder to computer, then copy the video to a USB thumb drive and then insert the thumb drive into the laptop and copy to the video to the laptop.
Another way is to buy a composite video to USB adapter with software. This way you use the RCA cable connection from the camcorder thru the USB connector to the laptop. There are many products like this. Make sure you get one compatible with your operating system.

Many people have problems with this method but it should work if you do some research on the web about the process.

Hi,
Windows 7 does not support Sony DCR-TRV11 nor any update driver available for that.
Alternate way is to connect camcorder with stand alone dvd recorder and burn dvd disc of camcorder video then copy dvd files in Windows 7 computer for further process/ editing.
Hope this will help you to transfer video tapes in computer.
Thanks.
Can you upload the video
Yes - you will need the USB cable that came with the camera to do so. If you do not have one you can get an adapter.

Loose Manual Focusing Lens Device
There is a bulletin (E31529192) that describes your exact problem and recommends replacing the screws with new different screws to prevent this from happening again. The front section around the lens assembly is only held by 3 screws so access isn't a big deal, just be careful if you try this because there is a cable connected to the microphone that is easy to damage. The new screws are part number 3-056-559-01. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
