I am getting a purple out of range box on my

It is because your Windows monitor settings are OUT OF RANGE if you can boot into Windows normaly just rite click on the desktop, chose properties, than settings tab (if it's XP), go to advance, than monitor, look for frequency refresh rate, change to 60Hz, than save, than reboot

if you can't boot into Windows, try booting in SAFE MODE by pressing (F8) key at startup than do the above starting at -- rite click on the desktop...

Good luck!

Gemstar 15" monitor/GM 171-B powers up but nothing on screen

You may have either the DC filter caps problem or the back light inverter board has failed, worst case will be bad lamps assembly. So check for 12vdc on the inverter board, bad caps with leaking/bulging top, bad solder joints.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I have a windows vista home premium I cant get safe mode off I havent used it for a long time what can I use to update it an get smart mode off thanks

You should be able to turn it off with MSCONFIG. Click START and type msconfig in the search box. You should see an msconfig entry show up near the top of the panel. Right click and pick "Run as Administrator". When the msconfig panel opens, select the General tab and make sure the Normal Startup is checked. Check the Services tab and make sure Enable All is on. Click APPLY and then OK, then YES for reboot. That should get you going.

My mpc laptop cant openn programs like facebook and yahoo

some countries block these sites. Try going via a free web proxy (google for one) and see if this makes any difference although i would not been too keen to put your username and passwords in while using a free proxy as they may not be secure. The issue you have could also be with your security levels being set a little too high on your browser. You could try donwloading an alternative browser like Opera, Chrome, Firefox etc...

yes. using a simple text editor like notepad simply add entries to the file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts the entries should look like this: 127.0.0.1 www.siteiwantblocked.com that IP address is the "localhost" and will result in and error or if the computer is running a web server it will go to that site.

My music sounds like chipmunk.Why?

Install a set of Codecs. This is a small set of Standard Programs that allow the correct interpretation of the Audio and video files used on your computer. KLcodecs is a good place to start. They are free and should cover the vast majority of file formats.
