the camcorder is suppose to give you good result even on its default settings. try to reset it first by pressing and holding the reset button.(reset button is located in the panel where the lcd screen comes from. its a tiny hole and you can use any pointed object to press and hold it for 3 seconds. try recording again. if you're having a hard time looking for the reset button, try removing ll power source from the camcorder(battery and unplug it from walloutlet) then press and hold power button for 1 min.

I believe that this particular model does not have an A/V input. The A/V jack on the camcorder is output only. This link will provide all of the specs on this camcorder.

This could be quite a few things for this, the main one is the LCD has died, you need to get the camera to Jessops camera centre for a health check.

Sony Handycam... | Answered on Jun 16, 2010

This could be a switch problem, even if the switch looks like it is going the contact may have worn, do you live near a camera store like Jesops? if you do let them take a look.

Hi,
If tape compartment slide out when you open bottom cover to eject the tape then you need to press lock of tape compartment in direction as shown in below exploded view of tape compartment.

And if tape compartment does not slide out ( as takes tape in when it inserted) then tape mechanism is defective and need to be replaced.
Local camera tech will help you to fix it.
Thanks.

to transfer video from your camcorder to your pc you will need a firewire cable (ieee 1394). only with this cable you will be able to transer video.
you will also need a firewire port on your pc.
if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire pci card.

see this for info and pictures

Try to hook it up to the TV, if you still have no video there is two possibilities. One, IRIS motor is stuck in closed position. Two CCD (imaging IC) went bad and require replacement.
