The replacement battery you purchased is either lacking the battery sense circuitry or it is bad. Sony includes a circuit in the battery that provides information to the camcorder about the amount of charge in the battery and feedback during the charge cycle. Buy an original Sony battery (I know they are more expensive, but you get what you pay for) and your problem should be gone

Does it power up if connected with AC Power Adapter?
Have you tried extra AC Power Adapter or tested with another Sony Camera?

This is not a user serviceable condition. Malfunction with lens cover mechanism must be serviced by pro tech

I don't think you can use the unit for individual snapshots but you can take short segments of video then, download to your computer. After you have loaded segments of footage, you can then take individual snapshots from the footage. In a way this is better as you can select from many angles, positions ect.

May sure your computer is set to NTSC format

Connect your camera to the "video (1)" input of TV
