If you can, check the display settings. Some graphics cards have an option for dual monitors. Sounds like the card is seeing only 'monitor 2'. If you have more than one monitor port, try plugging both monitors in. If no luck, you may have to boot into BIOS at power-up and configure from the menu. But be careful not to fiddle with unknown settings in BIOS - this is the 'nerve center' of the computer and could cause total digital catastrophe. If not sure, don't. Or get expert to help re-configure.

Should have reset to factory settings in the display menu under settings.

Sounds like some bad electrolytic capacitors, it's easily fixed. I highly recommend reading the links at the bottom, it'll give a you a better insight into the problem and solution.

You have 2 or 3 options:

1. If it's under warranty then you could send it back to be fixed, problem is they will likely use the same rubbish brand of capacitors again, but anything else will void the warranty.

2. Pay a tv repairman or similar to fix it for you. They may still use substandard capacitors, so specify what brand you want them to use, this will probably mean waiting longer and possibly paying a little more. This way you know the job should be done right.

3. You could replace them yourself if you're comfortable with a soldering iron, or know someone who is. The capacitors themselves are quite cheap and easy to replace.

Go for the best ones you can get for the job and try to buy from reputable companies, the links below will help you chose but you can't go wrong with Rubycons. Every capacitor manufacturer has several ranges, each having different properties which make some more suitable than others

Always match the values on the original capacitors. You can actually use slightly different values for the capacitance and voltage (uf and v) but never use ones below what the originals are rated at.

As you should be able to see, the one on the left is bulging. The blue stripe with the arrow tells you that the lead on that side is the negative, the positive lead should also be longer than the negative one(only on a new cap, old ones will have been trimmed).

Tools needed

1. Soldering iron. - preferably with a stand with a sponge in.
2. Solder - there's different types so make sure it's suitable for electronics
3. Phillips screwdriver
4. Flat head screwdriver
5. Wirecutters
6. De-soldering wick, or pump. - definitely recommended but not really essential.

If you haven't already got the tools then it's a good investment, as bad caps cause a lot of faults in all kinds of electronics.

Instructions

1. Unplug monitor and open case.

2. Identify power board, it should have a lot of electrolytic caps on there and obviously should be connected to where the power lead is attached.

3. Identify the bad caps, they should be bulging and/or leaking, although not always. Note down the three values for each cap (eg 220uf, 16v, 105c) and their approximate dimensions, and get new ones, preferably Rubicon or Panasonic, the link below will help you chose some good ones. If in doubt you could remove them and take them to the shop, but you'll have to remember where each one goes and which way round it was (take pics).

4. Very carefully heat up the contact on one side with the soldering iron, and rock the cap the other way, then do the other side, keep doing this until the cap comes out, if you have a de-soldering wick/pump use it to remove the solder and it should just pop out easily.

4. Replace with new cap, making sure that you observe the polarity and make sure it's securely seated and soldered in. Make sure the solder is neat, tidy and doesn't contact anything else. If there's any solder left in the holes then you'll have to heat it up or remove it before you can get the new cap's leads through. Once done properly trim the leads off so they won't cause any problems.

5. Replace casing and test. If it doesn't work then you'll have been a bit messy with the solder, tidy it up and try it again.

Replace bad electrolytic caps on power supply module,or just replace power supply, that should fix your problem.

You cannot do it at the PC? Are you running WINDOWS 7?

set the resolution in the game in settings tab to little less then what it is in now

It can be power supply, backlight inverter, or bad lamp assembly. You need to open it up and do in-depthtroubleshooting. Please read below and look at pictures, learn ablut bad caps, how LCD monitor works.

Your computer isn't starting up, no video is getting to the monitor, and that's why you see the "no signal" message and the power light goes orange. Make sure you've reconnected any internal cables you might have removed when you replaced the RAM. Also be sure you've seated the RAM properly into its socket. I've seen modules seated crooked so that contacts are shorted. The modules should fit properly into the sockets so the latches click into place.

Try reinstalling the original RAM and see if the computer starts properly. You might have a defective part which is keeping the board from starting up.

Since the trouble began after you replaced the RAM, that's where to start looking for the cause. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Does it work with Desk top PC OK?
When you use it with laptop, you need to use Fn key and either F4,5,6, or 7 depends on your laptop to select how the display will work: both, extenal ony, internal. Please post back.

go to esservice.com and get the manual from there will be easier as the transistors are directional i believe they are 2sc5707s from memory but you will need to check the transformers and the 2 filter caps on either side of them as if they are faulty will blow transistors.

faulty power board... possibly caused by blown capacitors..

It is also possible that your previously dormant mutant powers are now being expressed. This would explain everything from the monitor not working (perhaps you are radiating some type of energy field) to your hand sinking into an otherwise solid looking object (maybe the beginning stages of being able to walk through solid objects or an ability to produce intense heat). In any case, I would recommend you buy a new monitor since your newfound abilities have damaged this one and also, recommend that you sleep with fire resistant bedding.

I had a similar problem: the backlight on my Benq T701 only functioned for a couple of seconds every time a turned the monitor on and then the backlight switched off (sometimes in two stages). An electronics guru at work said with those symptoms the transistors rarely were the problem and I just needed to resolder the connections of the high voltage coils onto the PCB. On visual inspection those solder connections seemed ok, but when I tried to reflow the existing solder at one connection I spotted the problem: just a thin surface layer of solder was present and I had to add solder to fix the problem. The 4 coils each have 6 leads on one side and 2 on the other. I only soldered the connections on the side with 2 leads. In just 30 minutes and without buying parts the monitor is now up and running again.

I've repaired my FP767 just today. It had similar problem.
First of all I thought that I needed to replace CCFL tubes.
Then I noticed inflated capacitors in power supply.
I replaced them all and monitor works as new.

Check the inverter board.

check the logic board.

does it display a picture for a few seconds before it goes blank. or do you not get any picture?. i think i might know what it is but if you could let me know :-) All the best John
