First think , has it been dropped, jarred, banged, .....you get the idea? Does it continue to blink, the HDD? Do you see a "ghost image" in the monitor in a bright light? Do you here sounds? You say "nothing else happens", meaning the light stops blinking? Shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in, try to boot noemally.

get a service manual, get a new screen, disassemble, as per manual, remove screen, replace with New One, and reassemble in the reverse order. It is quite an easy process.

Dont worry..we can get it fixed...if u have backup of all ur files i suggest u just wipe the disk clean and start all over agin....

Your cmos battery is flat, that must be an older laptop.

Requires a strip down to the mobo to replace battery.

You are correct, the BIOS battery is flat and needs to be replaces.
The BIOS battery maybe behind one of the panels on the bottom of the laptop or it maybe under the keyboard. The most common BIOS batteries in laptops are button 3v lithium batteries. You need to locate, remove to identify the type and size of the battery.

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

When you say play DVDs you mean watch DVD movies? Assuming the drive is not broken you need to use the DVD app. You could use VLC Player which you can download. It's an orange traffic cone icon.

I found out in Google that this tablet has Windows 8 on it. You can install Facebook on it by going to the "Microsoft Store". If it didn't install, check if your operating system is 8.1 Let me know if that helps.
