You seem to have a related problem, you can't burn cd's and you cannot install windows without an error. Either your hard drive has a bad sector where it keeps trying to write the data or your dvd drive has a reading error. You "killed" it -- either the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the case, or the disk-drive inside the case. Remove the disk-drive from the case, and install it in a replacement case (with replacement power-supply).

try updating the firmware of the harddrive..or see if it shows in disk management( My computer,right click, manage, go to disk management) See if it shows up there Try to do a error check on that hard drive..
