Microphone not working
You should try a ROM upgrade. THis problem may have occured if you have a corrupted ROM memory. If for my first choice.. hmm.. It isn't hardware, in my opinion. Try the ROM update first. Save all your important data (no back-up) only save the files to the computer, then have the PDA's battery fully charged, make an active sync connection using USB sync cable (bluetooth, or IR woun't work) and open the ROM update file.
For a ROM update, use the oficial HP ROM versions. Here is a link to the wm2003 version. It is the only one that HP distributes free of any charges. Folow the instructions carefully.

In that list select and download : HP iPAQ h6300 Pocket PC Series ROM Update (English Languages Support Only)
Good luck, fell free to ask any other question about this process or others and always remember to rate solutions. :)
Vanishing of sms folder.
If after a hard reset the PDA doesn't give you back the sms folder, it is most likely to asume that a ROM reinstall must be done. If you have a USB sync cable, check the HP site and download the ROM version for your Ipaq. Carefull with the rom upgrade, it's a simple process but must be done with care and by the instructions given there.
GSM reception problem
To some degree this is a known problem for the h63XX series. The US version the 6315 has a GPRS update that "helps" the device reacquire the signal. Therefore, I recommend that you contact your cellular and ask them if a similar firmware update is available for your particular unit.
Clearly, since the h63XX series has several known issues at this time, I highly recommend you don't use any third-party applications that are not WM 2003 AND 63XX certified and tested.
