Do you mean the basket that pulls out above the drawer? This is witchy to get out. You need to depress the two tabs while lifting on the entire square piece. What is the temp of the freezer? It has to be zero or colder, as far as, I know to freezer water. Check the water supply. Is the water turned on to the maker? Could be a faulty water valve. It's usually where the water connection is made. Is there a water filter in-line? Could it be clogged? Some filters only allow water to flow in one direction. Look for an arrow of flow on the filter. Plug up frig. Turn frig. on. Put the wire bail in the down position on the ice maker.

The most likely cause is the fill valve is leaking and causing the ice maker to overfill. Try a new fill valve. Usually located on the rear of the appliance. (where you hook the water line to).
