When I try to print

Hello.

From the HP site:

There could a problem in the pickup assembly area of the product. There are twoblack Mylar light shields approximately 3.5 inches long. They are located onboth sides of the pickup roller under the pickup roller rod. One or both ofthese black Mylar shields can be tucked under, or partially bent when removinga paper jam from the paper input tray slot.
Reposition the black Mylar light shields back into the proper position.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  2. Remove the paper and paper input tray.
  3. Slide hands, palms side up, into the paper input tray cavity until the fingertips reach the end of the cavity.
4. Bend fingers up to push theblack Mylar light shields back into place. The proper position of the blackMylar light shield will be flat.
5. Reconnect the power cord.
6. Print a self-test/configuration page to verify product is functioningcorrectly.
If still a problem, make sure that the tray, paper is locked in thecorrect position. Sometimes the spring in the tray can become worn out andloose. You can take that out and spread it out a little. Also, make sure thatthe tray bottom is free to move. Take out the paper and see if it goes up anddown correctly. If you don't hear the pickup roller moving or the motor runningyou may have a bad feed roller gear. There also, could be a problem with thepickup roller.

Hope this helps.

I have a 2410 photosmart

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the problem.

This is a common problem on these units. Unfortunately, there is no ' quick ' fix for the same and more often you would end up sending the unit for repair. This is recommended only for products under warranty. If the product is out of warranty, repair is never recommended as the cost would be high as compared to the cost of the new one. In these situations, you are advised to call up HP hotline and raised a complaint against the same. They are usually customer oriented and more likely would offer a new printer in lieu of this at a highly discounted price. You could try the below steps :

Please follow the steps below to reset your printer:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on.
2. Open printer and remove ALL cartridges.
3. Unplug the power cord from the printer. (not from the outlet)
4. Now unplug the cable form the wall outlet
5. Wait 30 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the printer.
7. Plug the power cable directly to the wall outlet (not to a surge protector, etc)
8. Open the top cover and reinsert the cartridges.
9. Turn the unit on.
10. Print a document to test

If that does not work, try to reset the printer to default factory settings:

1- Press the print photos and red eye removal buttons2- It should ask you to enter the special key combo in the printer
3- You need to enter: print photos button, red eye removal button, print photos button
4- It display some sort of a Support and some numbers
5- Press the right arrow and try to find the resets menu
6- In resets menu, choose partial reset
7- Press ok
8- The printer should turn off automatically
9- Wait for 1 minute
10- Turn the printer back on

If the problems remains unresolved, it would confirm hardware malfunction and new printer would be on the cards.I am sorry to be a bearer of bad new, however this is the only solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

HP PSC 2355 printer displays

Whenever I have a problem with my printer it seems easier to just go to the control panel and delete it. Then restart the computer and it should find it or use the disc that came with it and reinstall. They can really be a pain.
