I had the same problem - mine was in warranty and they covered it. They did not however ask for the broken one back., I am an engineer and thought I would try to fix it once I had my replacment- but the damage is to a plastic planetary gear, unless they will sell you the part - and an experienced person can repair it - it is dead.
