You might need to check the Device manager to see if the network card is there and installed properly.If the device manager says it is there and working then it will be a hardware issue.
Just in case your not sure how to get to Device manager, here is a shortcut. Right click on My Computer, click Manage. This will bring up the management console, have a look down the left and find Device Manager.

Make sure the N router is also sending a broadcast for B/G mode, as the 2wire adapters do not support N technology. You can login to your router by typing "home" or "192.168.0.1" or "192.168.1.1" in your web browser and check the wireless settings on your Dlink to see if it supports these methods.
