I have a Roper RAS833PQ that is only about 18 months only. It won't do anything. It just died. It was working fine and then nothing. I have checked the power source and the fuse box. There is power going to the washer. I've seen some things about a "lid switch," but I'm not sure how to check that. Please help!

Dea, does the washer fill? If it fills and justs sits there it could be the pressure switch. If it fills, agitates and then no spin no drain, then it's the lid switch. If it doesn't do any of the above, it may be a timer issue. Lift the lid and gently lower it, do you hear a click when the actuator on the lid hits the switch? I will attempt to attach a picture on how the consol flips up to see the lid switch harness, pressure switch and timer. Your model will have two screws that must be removed, they maybe in back of the end caps. To remove the lid switch unclip the clips on the right and left side, unplug the harness and tip the cabinet foward. You will see how the lid switch mounts to the cab. Catriver..post back

How do you open the top to replace the lid switch?

I have a Roper washing machine, the number is RAX4232KQ0, and it won't fill up with water at all. I've checked the hoses and they have a strong flow but for some unknown reason the water is not entering into the machine. I've turned the knob and the washer will spin-of course with no water.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR INLET WATER VALVE HAS CHUCKED IN THE TOWEL.
WHEN YOU TURN THE MACHINE ON TO FILL UP THE VALVE OPENS TO LET THE WATER INTO THE MACHINE, IF THE VALVE DOES NOT OPEN THEN NO WATER WILL ENTER IT
THE VALVE WILL BE BEHIND THE PANEL WHERE THE HOSE ENTERS THE MACHINE
THEY ARE REASONABLY CHEAP AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE REPLACED BY A HANDYMAN OR WOMAN, JUST MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE WIRES BACK ON THE SAME TERMINALS AS THE OLD VALVE

Roper washing machine has an unbalanced spin which sounds like the tub is hitting along the insides of the washer. I normally stop it in the spin and rearrange the clothes but that doesn't work either. I want to take off the front washing machine panel to see if there is a hook broken on the tub causing the unbalanced spin sounds but can't figure out how to do that. On my previous washing machine (Sears brand) you could put a wedge between the top panel and the front panel of the washing machine and flip down the front panel. That doesn't work on this model. So my question is how do I get the front panel of the washing machine off to expose the tub to see if there is anything broken or unattached from the tub causing the unbalancing in the spin cycle. Thank for any helpful ideas.

I usually stand in front of the washer and take the plams of my hands and forcefully provide a force with the heel of my hands on the side front corners and the lip comes up
Another option is to pull the washer out and remove 2 clips (usually requires quarter inch nut driver to allow the top to come up
This should allow you to get the top off to see if a spring has broken or slipped off

WIRING DIAGRAM FOR ROPER TOP LOAD WASHER MODEL RAS6233RQO

how can I check the timer for my RAS6233RQO with a voltmeter?
Posted on Jan 17, 2011
I have a Roper top load washing machine and the drain and spin cycle stopped working. After washing a load, it doesn't drain the water out and the spin cycle doesn't kick in. Once the "washing" cycle stops, the machine stops. The water doesn't drain and the clothes just sits there in the water.

the washer needs to have the lid closed to go into spin cycle the lid switch is broken just replace it and that will fix it

my washer will not spin out the water all the way - most things are sopping wet still! it's only about 5 years old

If I understand your concern it's draining some water, but not all, correct ?
This would appear to be an issue of a "kinked" drain hose, broken lid switch, or a partial blockage along the drain system. Missing any socks, undies etc. ?
It could also mean the unit isn't spinning, so the water in the clothing is settling to the bottom and not being "spun" out.
1) See if the lid switch actuator is ok, and the switch itself. the easiest way to check is to close the lid with your ear to the cabinet and listen for a "click" as the switch activates/closes. You could also stick a pen/pencil or small screwdriver in the slot where the actuator would "make" against the switch lever. (these test's must be done with the timer in a spin cycle, power to the unit and timer in the "on" setting, so be careful of any loose clothing, jewelry, long hair etc.
2) If it spins...even momentarily, check and see if the hose in back is kinked or collapsed, you should be able to visually inspect this part. (Not draining due to a kinked hose or obstruction can also prevent a proper spin and actually stop the basket from spinning almost immediately) If that isn't the issue, you'll need to pull some hoses off to search out where the flow is being obstructed.
If it doesn't spin...you'll likely need a lid switch assembly, part number 547225 retailing for $29.95US at repairclinic.com (no I have no affiliation, I work for Sears Canada)
These are the most common and likely problems. If they don't appear to be the problem you have, let me know we can go further into the trouble shooting.
hope this helps,
Good Luck :)

Washer fils ok then start agitation cycle. Then stops and nothing else happens.

Most of the time that is lid switch failure. The lid switch must be engaged before the tub can spin. You can bypass the lidswitch to see if that is the problem. The lidswitch has 3 wires. 2 live wires and one ground wire which is green and bolted to the frame. Tie the 2 live wires together and see if the washer will work. You can use it that way but is could cause harm if anyone was to try and grab clothes out the tub while it is spinning full blast.
