How do I clean a kenmore model number 100.8058880A steam iron

Try putting in some LimeAway (Home Depot carries it) and let it sit overnight. Then turn it on to steam and press the steam button to get the steam through the bottom holes etc. Do this on top of some old rags. Then do it again with just water to clear out the LimeAway, should get most of the calcium out. One tip use distilled water in it instead of tap water, you'll get much less buildup. Get distilled water at any retailer about $1 per gallon.

I have a Kenmore iron

  • While these irons are a great name (Kenmore) this one has a crack somewhere in the reservoir and this is not repairable as the reservoir does not detach from the iron itself. If you want to be able to have steam while ironing then you will need to get a new iron.

I have a 1600 watt

hello If you have an multimeter you can measure the continuity of the heating element of the iron.Set the multimeter to the resistance reading put the test probe black and red to the plug of the iron line 1 and line 2 switch the iron to its full temperature control the meter should read 0000 it means that the heating element is good if the meter reads 0.L it means that heating element is open and needs replacement...the common failure in an iron is the switch(temperature control switch) there is two screws at the back of the iron near the cord open it and check the switch clean the contacts there is also an adjustment in it use a flat screw to adjust the sensitivity of the switch. In some Iron it they use a thermal fuse for safety.here's the picture of thermal fuses..this thermal fuse.is connected in series at the AC power input of the iron locate for it and replace it.use replacement of the same rating...good luck and let me hear if you have further question.. alpug_60.jpg

Sewing machine keeps skipping stitches

Generally, it means that the bobbin is too tight in the cavity.

1. Remove the bobbin
2. Try a drop of oil in the bobbin cavity in the machine, using a Q-TIP
3. After applying the oil, use a clean Q-TIP to remove excess oil in the cavity (may need more than one clean Q-TIP).
4. Replace bobbin.

(I'm sure you already tried differenty thread)

Hope this helps!

My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop

The steam valve may be partially blocked with scale so it doesn't close properly. You can try disconnecting the iron from the base unit and flushing it several times with the valve open and then closed. If it is possible to disassemble the valve, you can clean the contamination directly. You may also find that the seal or o-ring is worn out. My mother would use only distilled water in her iron, so she never had that problem. I see from the product manual* that yours is "designed for use with tap water" if the filter is used. There's probably a limit to how much lime in the water it will tolerate, but the manual says nothing about that. If the Laurastar Lift Xtra is less than a year old and you were diligent about replacing the filter when you got the replacement alert light, you may be able to get warranty service. *http://image.email.laurastar.com/lib/fe4715707564057e751572/m/3/75bb559a-f7e0-4d65-aa02-6d2bf912641f.pdf

My D2030 iron does not heat up the power light and the screen light come on but does not heat up

1...You need to check the iron settings as they have an adjustable knob that controls temperature as well as governs which kind of materials you want to iron. Different clothing materials need different temperature and other settings. Make sure you set the knob carefully. If you are unable to set the knob properly, you can check the user manual and make sure the temperature or heat amount is set at the right point.

2...Another thing that you need to check in order to inspect why the iron press is not heating up is the water reservoir. In some cases, if the water reservoir is empty then the iron press may not be heating up as much as it should.

For this, switch the iron off and make sure it is cool. Switch it on again and top up the water in the reservoir. Now try ironing again to see whether the heat is proper or not.

Elna Press 2000 Ironing Press. Why won't my press close?

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Elna Sewing Machines No one has reported this issues, so there are no known fixes. The system is simple, just a hinge with a spring to counterbalance some of the weight. Look for something out of place or binding at the hinge area, perhaps the pivot pin is dislodged. https://www.google.com/search?q=elnapress+iron+won%27t+close+properly ..
