Unfortunately, there are no Win7 drivers for this scanner. THe drivers are for Windows 98SE through XP. The support for the ScanPrisa 1240UT is available here:
http://benq.co.uk/support/downloads/downloads.cfm/dtype/M/page/downloads/product/87 . Click on the Drivers tab.
The XP driver may work under Windows 7 32-bit in the Compatibility Mode. (To check your version of Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the Windows version title ends with x64, you do not have the 32-bit version. Otherwise, you do.) To use this driver in Windows 7 32-bit, download the .zip file and extract it. (Right click and choose Extract All.) Then find the installer (Setup.exe) and right click again and select Properties. Click on the Compatibility Tab and check "Always run this program as compatible with" and fill in XP in the drop down menu. Right click again and choose Run As Administrator.
If you have Windows 7 64-bit, you will need to use a computer with the older version of Windows. This can be a virtual computer (if your hardware supports it), a dual boot machine, or a physical second computer. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to them, you can run a virtual XP computer for free (again if your hardware is capable of doing it). In that case, download Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install the programs in order. Then install the scanner using the drivers from the above link as if the XP mode is your regular computer. Other virtual computer programs include VMWare and Parallels. However for those and the other options, you will need a licensed copy of the older versions of Windows. (If you know a Windows User's Group member, you may have a source for older versions of Windows.)
I hope this helps.
