Altec Lansing ACS 45.1 Computer Speakers Questions & Answers
Speakers Died?
No, I think you've fried only the fuse of Altec Lansing. Check at the back of the main unit (subwoofer) if there's a fuse box (should look like head of the plastic bolt). If not than turn it off, unplug it and open op the main unit and check for the fuse. It should look like this:
If the metal wire inside of it is broken than you should buy new fuse of same amperage (it should be engraved on metal part of the fuse or printed on glass tube).

Your altec lansing need to be open, because it has a loss connection on the power supply part of its circuit board. that is why when you turn up the volume it turns off because it produces vibration enough to shake the circuit board which has a loss connection.
1. Prepare the following tools:
* soldering gun/iron / soldering lead and a magnifying glass
* open your altec lansing cover enough to see the circuit board
2. Try to examine the leads on the circuit board, try to share some of the spare parts make sure it is not plug to live outlet to avoid electric shock.
3. if you see some spare parts shaking try to resolder it.
4. Then close back the cover.
5. Then test your altec lansing
