canon i560 just stopped printing black text, all in tanks are full, when i do nozzle check and test page the black works, but when i try to print out a plain black text page it wont print but coloured graphics print out ok

I have now found the solution elsewhere in the internet: black text only prints on the Canon i560 if selct "normal paper", but not,for instance, if you have "professional photo-paper" selected.

The printer is a Canon i560, about 4 years old. It does not print. When the printer is turned on, the light flashes orange 5 times, and green once, then orange 5 times and green once and so on.

Probably your waste ink counter. Should be cleaned or replaced before
resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER
0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.
This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

Printer won't print. Green light blinks once, then turns amber & blinks 5 to 6 times, then turns green once again. I have replaced all new ink cartridges.

I have similar problem. I found this solution that may help you. My problem insists tho.
>>> 5 flashes indicates a faulty printhead or possibly a problem with the p/head contacts. Try removing the head which is easier if you take the cartridges out first(no tools required) and re-seat it having checked the contacts for dirt.
If that doesn't work it may be that the waste ink tank is full. Try this ...
Canon S9000, S300, S400, i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950, PIXMA iP3000 above,
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Hi there, my Canon i560 has suddenly stopped working. Printed fine yesterday, not today.
The orange light blinking is 5 times then holds on green for a moment, before orange blinks again 5 times, etc.
What does this mean? Thanks!

It's mean "Print head not installed/Defective print head".First open cover and remove the ink cartridges. Then open holder and remove the print head.Clean the contacts on printer and print head using piece of cotton and some alcohol. Then put back all again. If the problem persist you need to replace the print head. It's part number now is QY6-0064, because the old QY6-0042 is discontinued.

The power light flashes 5 times indicating a print head problem. I tried resetting it but still the same.

Try checking the seating of each of the cartridges. If you have inserted new cartridges, make sure that you have removed the tape covering the electronic chip and the breather at the top of the cartridges. Reseat the print head according to the troubleshooting instructions in the user manual. If you need a manual you can download it from
Hope this helps.

Will not print. I get this message
Press printer's RESUME button.
If this doesn't clear the error, cancel printing and turn the printer off and then back on."
The status light flashes orange 5 times followed by 1 green. Repeats
