Canon CanoScan N340P Flatbed Scanner Questions & Answers
It is a canon canoscan
If you believe the scanner is still functional it is possible it won't operate with Windows 7. I have a laser printer like that and no updated drivers are available and in spite of using the Windows Compatibility function the printer is now useless.
You could try uninstalling the scanner driver and restarting the computer and then when you reconnect your scanner a "found new hardware" wizard should appear which can search the internet for a suitable driver.
You could also try using the Windows Compatibility function that in theory allows earlier software to be used - mostly unsuccessfully in my experience.
Installing CanoScan
Canon N340P scanner is not supported by Windows 7. It is obsolete and will only work with Win98, 2000, and XP.
Wanting to save drivers to usb to install canoscan
Try rebooting your modem or router, and then reboot your computer and hopefully you can get Internet access again.
I need more information on your Internet problem before I can assist you.
You can download the Canoscan driver from a different computer (a friends) and then copy the driver to a USB flash drive and then install it on your computer.

You can download the driver from this IP address (72.56.181.99) within 24 hours. After 24 hours you will have to use the driver request form once again. Thank you for understanding.
Cannot detect scanner
There is going to be issues with connecting it in this fashion. The usb adapters are not addressed the same as a real parallel port. This means that the drivers probably do not have a chance at working. The other issue is usb ports on laptops rarely have the power to drive devices larger than a mouse or keyboard. This means that the usb adaptor may not have enough power to function. Try plugging it into a powered usb hub then to the laptop. This may give it enough power to do what you want if the drivers are compatible of course.
Good Luck.
If all else fails goto goodwill and get a usb scanner. I always see stacks of them. Most are the usb type.
