Remove main battery from laptop and plug in adapter, if the computer fires up the battery is bad, no change, have the adapter tested, if okay, the problem lies in the motherboard, sometimes the DC jack works it's way loose breaking connection from main board, at this point it must be dismantled to address the situation.

That is normal to have a selection when BIOS loads on some notebooks it gives you the option or choice to F1 to continue to boot Windows or F10 to go to the BIOS. It is part of the BIOS during boot up. Nothing to worry about. This is rather a cool method of accessing without have to figure it out as to how to get to the BIOS if you need to make any changes in the BIOS. John

First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether

You need a larger drive, or less programs. windows uses 2.88 GB and likes 1 GB to swap in.
Try going into control pannel and add/remove programs and on the left side of the screen there will be add remove windows components - to delete things you don't need. Games, MSN explorer, fax services, desktop wall paper, mouse pointers, paint etc. All of these will free up 50- 60 MB. Which isn't a lot, but its something. There are also ways to delete all the help files, and empty folders, duplicate files etc. The bottom line is a larger drive is required.

the service manual is here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=95011&
often theres a slot at the side you can unscrew and remove the drive - however, looking at that service manual in the link above - you do need to take the laptop apart toaccess

Hello, the short answer is YES you can. I am not sure why are you trying to do this but just remember while running laptop just AC power your are running the rick where if you accidently move the laptop and power connector coming lose from laptop will cause instant power off. This can cause you lose data you might be working on. This can also cause OS corupption.
So my recommendation is to do this if absolutely nessasary and be sure thatpower cable doesn't get pulled or moved.

I hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Amar Sondhi

Most laptops have switch located ether on front of laptop it self or on one of the sides. If not another option they come with is FN key in lower left by Ctrl and Window Key which looks like a flag and while holding this find one of the F keys that has little antenna like symbol or like you see it when wireless is connected.
